^^^ Well, since the tudor sedan on the right is at least a 1941 it's safe to say that 1933 is not a correct date for that pic. Maybe '43?

  3. Good eye; and in a word, no, it may just be a typo. The newer Ford making the corner
appears to be a '41, so the year is likely 1943.

  6. Wow! This is kind of eerie! This girl is a ringer for my late sister as a senior in high school, 1959.

Arlen Ness, bike builder. I lived a couple of miles from his shop on E 14th St. in San Leandro until 20 years ago. Such a tame little town to be host to his wild bikes. There's a hair salon there now.

My mother had a red and black '53 Lincoln Capri hardtop and my dad's office was near the area of this photo. I wonder if that was us. How many of those cars could there have been. It was all red at the dealership and before delivery she insisted that the top be painted black.

Love this pic. Reminds me of when my uncle told me how if the kids wanted to go into town, once a week, they'd have to pull the pan on the old A and throw a new piece of leather on the bad journal so it'd make it.

David's caption says it's after 1933. "...after a major oil strike just southwest of town on May 27th, 1933. Not very many years later we find old Cecil, "
It's got to be WWII era with those war bond signs.

Maybe it should have been criminal. She died of COPD as did many other smokers. But that will never happen because the Gov't would have to find another source of tax revenue.
