  2. To quote SouthUrn:
"Semantics. Higher probability having PS done when using words and phrases such as "I would like", "please", and "thank you" over sense of entitlement with "needs to be" and "good luck". Just sayin'."

I think it just becomes a bit of a drag for em sometimes. doing the same thing everyday. That's why people go quiet for a while, then come back.

I think one of the regulars got banned for some reason, so the pace took a hit. James D I think posts on some other forums so hes not always here.

Theres a few new faces but its mostly people who just come and do a few occasionally for enjoyment and then realize it never ends.

It takes a good artistic challenge to capture the imagination and make them want to fire up photoshop.

Can somebody help me with this one? trying to get it visualized in either two tone satin black/ siver metalflake upper. Or all grey like an epoy grey.
maybe even get wild with white and silver?

can you add a good scoop too? something like the older offy's, the bolt on ones.

I've looked at it in bare metal for 3 or so years, Its hard for me to visualize it as anything else haha
    Thanks!!!

my packard needs paint, I was thinking about pink body and hood with black top and rear trunk lid like the way the old packard two-tones, color scheme would match an old caddy I had in high school... my daughter wants the car to be all bronze or copper, or maybe bronze or copper body and hood, with dark purple top and trunk..

even tho it may be too late, please and thanks in advance for any help

You're right, people do come and go, and for various reasons. It helps keep the mix fluid, lotsa different styles to see. Some 'shoppers are comfortable with a quick wheel change while others prefer to take on something more challenging.
I started doing it a few years ago and still do from time to time, but my job thing keeps getting in the way. I've maintained a Photoshop album on my profile if anyone wants to check it out (and boy is my earlier work scary! :D) and I'm always open to requests for 'shops, as long as someone is patient. I do like the more challenging requests/ideas though and since I tend to be performance oriented my work reflects it. Eli

That's an option but i would be worried about flex on a non convertable frame.

I'm going to throw this one out there. I think I want to paint the car black, and put a set of Salt Flats or Halibrand replicas on this or something. I'm not sure what else I need to do to this thing to make it nicer. Any ideas?

Good point. I'll have to ask my dad who has my grandma's '54 Belair if it has an X member frame. 1/2 inch plate does wonders.

How about leave it as it is? So many cars are black, whether flat or gloss. Big ho hum factor there. Your car looks great and doesn't have that "cookie cutter" look that so many cars have today. Maybe your idea of a wheel change will do the trick. Lemme see what I can come up with.

Here are your wheels done, I suck at colour changes, I'm just good at mods and fixing backgrounds etc.

Or maybe people are just busy because it's summer.

I don't think there is any difference in the frame of a 49-52 Chev from one body style to the next.

I'll NEVER have another flat black car again. It was a nightmare to watch the paint decay before my eyes, and I agree that it is so cliche. I was thinking high gloss to show some class. Although, I have hit a stammer point with this car.

I do love the wheels, don't know if I could do yellow. I was actually thinking of pinstriping the flames same as I have in a tomato red on black.
Thanks for the photchop, gives me ideas now, I like gold, lol.

LN7 NUT - I suck at colour changes

I don't think you can colour change black, you can only really paint over it from scratch.

I sampled the body colour, and painted over rims.
transformed a spherical selection to make it fit then erased overlap to neaten.
then in layer styles, I added inner shadow and a gradient to make it look spherical instead of flat.
with grill, did same used gradient to add lower shadow, and painted highlight on top corner and Gaussian blurred it a bit. just to give it form.

I dunno what a half top hood is.

Thanks for the great job, and my apologies to all out there for not asking please or a thank you for any effort. I posted the pics when I was in a hurry to get to an appointment, did a rush job, but that is no excuse for bad manners, so again I am truly sorry for my misdeeds...

And again thanks for the great "bare metal" pic, almost looks too good just that way! What software does everyone use for "photoshopping" ? I am a CAD user but never got into photo editing but looking into it..

This is just a general point, NOT about what you did, but one thing that strikes me is the copper fan shroud, especially with a yellow body color, a brass colored, chrome or silver colored shroud I think would blend front and back better.

thanks for the reply, is it a hard program to use? by meaning a steep learning curve?

I know the Artistic talent like you and others on here have is something you either have or don't, but atleast with the right software we non-talented people like me can atleast think we can be Picasso:rolleyes:!

  26. Hard to use? Everything's relative. I have no real talent (obviously) but I keep at it until it either comes out decent or I get fed up and flush it away. Like anything, practice makes less-than-imperfect.

I've used PSP since it first came out A Long Time Ago, and I like it better than PS or GIMP, and it has more features than apps like Paint.NET. YMMV

YUP gimp 2 or paint.net why pay when you can do for free.
I had to go do summink earlier so couldn't do all those paint combinations. that's only reason its silver atm. and all I did was lay an image of another car over the top and warped it to fit a bit.

did that rod in black with the wheels
