there really is not enough pics to give a decent appraisal. if he is looking for top dollar for that car the value would be in the details.

24K in receipts... that means nothing without seeing the receipts. could be 20 k in labor for the stuff most guys would do themselves like brakes and easy stuff.

based on what I can see I'd say a minimum of $10,000.00 for that car...assuming the floors are not pop rivited street signs and the body was not sculpted from bondo and chicken wire.

Here is a MUCH better looking 50 chev that is chopped, sub framed, and custom paint for $25k. Saw it at Back to the Fifties... belonged to a friend of mine before it was chopped.

That means nothing as to what the car is worth. Getting all the money back you put into a car is impossible unless it's a icon like a 32 Ford, Hemi Mopar, etc...

It's pretty common for a new guy to sink big bucks into a car and then be shocked to find nobody will offer anything close to what he sunk into it.

Question for you: My '53 bel air hard top has 235 with a PG trans. the block is stamped with "K 2 48," which tells me the block was born on Nov. 2, 1948. I just rebuilt the engine and replaced the solid lifters that were already in there with identical solid lifters. So, I'm thinking its an apparent engine swap, but the car came with a PG cuz it has the badging on the trunk and no clutch hanging under the dash. You think I'm on the right page ????

Do a search on Ebay of cars sold that match what you are looking at to get an idea.

Offer half of what he's asking and go up from there. Just like the Gas Monkey does.:)
Looks like a nice unmolested car.
