I vote for 5 window. Cause you've got the skills and the eye to get it right. Everyone's got a 3 window. I love both just my 2 cents.
Thanks for the compliment. That's what I'm thinking. You don't see to many 5 window customs that have the 40's look.
I made a new ****** tunnel because the driveline moved up with the ****** and rear end. While I was at it I made smaller tunnels for the radius rods to move up into. .
The floor trimmed and the radius rod tunnels are in place. Now it's time to weld the floor off. Now the structure is strong and ready fore top removal. .
hey looks GOOD,back on mine since I sold my 55 at good guys Columbus now I am on foot Finish stripping PAINT, just have some clean up to do.Got most of metal work done .PAINT stripping ****s big time This is the LAST car I am stripping But since I got more time than money,It is what it is. I am doing a chevy small block,4-speed,9-inch 3:55,mustang front.I was lucky I just had to replace a couple of 5-6 inch patches in the floors under the seat.
Now was the time I had to decide weather to make her a 3 window or chop the roof as a 5 window. While I was trying to decide kenneth31coupe posted a picture for me on Ryans chopping a fat fender ford thread and everything clicked and I decided to leave her a 5 window. I spent the next week drawing the chop out and deciding where to cut.
*****en ride Carlos! I feel for ya i sold my 34 last summer. It surely gives you great incentive to finish though I doubled my speed since. I'd like to see pics when done. Later Kipp
Hey Kipp.Glad I pushed you in the right direction. Cutting up that nice body you have would have been a crime.I have seen your chop on another thread and it´s *****in.The floor you put in is awesome. It´s just the way I want mine to look like.Strange how two minds think a like. Kenneth.
Thanks Kenneth. The pic of the bare metal coop was inspirational! Correctly chopped 5 window's are rare. I think I made the right choice. we will see. The floor was fun. I wanted to use the stock seat so the tunnels worked better than raising the whole floor.
THE CHOP BEGINS! The goal of the chop is to not lose the roundness of the roof. I think that on a 35 to 40 5 window when the roof is split and lengthened it becomes to flat and looses its character. So the plan is to bring the roof forward and fill the added material between the roof and deck lid. To start everything I marked the rear window to take 1.5" out so as not to make it too small. .
because I was going to split the panel between the roof and deck I wanted to remove the leaded seam's in this panel so they were marked for removal. .
This panel is not flat. So I used a mallet and bag to form a crown then hammer and dolly smooth. I then cut and clamped in place to check fit. .
Then the other side was cut the same. (the whole car was braced from fire wall to trunk supports and then cross and diagonal before floor removal) .
Nice looking car. I will be following this one. Very kool project and a great post... Looking forward to watching the build. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->__________________ Thanks for the compliments.
