The Futura came first.I believe the Batmobile was actually made from one of these models.

Hard to imagine most pilots were only 19-21 years old then.
One question recruiters often asked young enlistees that wanted to be a pilot was: "do you ride a motorcycle"?
If they answered yes, they would be known as risk takers or daredevils!
