  2. Thanks very much Tim. If we have time I would dig it. Ordering up a headsock as we speak. With the new employment situation tho I have to hold off on a helmet. That money might be the gas budget to get out there!

When I am at a car show with my dragster and a guy or gal comes along with his small kid that shows an interest in it, I always tell them to sit him in it and take a picture.

In November of 1982 while on vacation in Europe I made my way to the race track in Le Mans, France and discovered there was a drivers school conducting a class. I made my way to the drivers lounge and asked the Chief Instructor was a ride around the track. The guy was really cool and drove me 2 very hot laps (Holy Crap-we are close to the guard rail!!!) around the track. It was the fastest I've ever been in a car and by far the best part of the vacation.

ust wanted to say thanks to all that responded. I'm going to have to go through the thread and take notes to bring with ... I have a bad case of CRS, no notes, no memory lol.

The boys were over yesterday and are pretty excited about the trip still. They were asking if the trip was as long as going to one of their Aunts house at the ocean because it was such a long boring ride.

I told them think of it like this ... You drive to your Aunts place, turn around and go back home, turn around and drive back to your Aunts place, turn around and go back home, and then turn around and go to your Aunts place and stay. And thats just the trip down.

LOL, talk about an eye opener for them...You guys want to call it off? Noooo!

Should be an interesting trip =)

Look forward to meeting some HAMB folks I haven't met yet.

Well I grabbed a rental car today and we hit the road tomorrow at 11 am. Should be out on the salt pretty early Sat. Should be a fun few days.

A TTT to show my appreciation __________________

LOL, yeah the drive was a little tough. Two youngsters that have never been on a real road trip that weren't able to sleep while we were driving, even though I pulled off a couple times on the way down.

Pulled in to Bonneville at sunrise and none of us had much sleep. Me I was fine like that, them not so much, which affected me lol. So basically day one wasnt the greatest. I met up with Tman and gave him another item for the BBQ and raffle. i also had him pull 4 tickets for me since I was going to have to pass on going.

I won a couple of cool things ... a print (Im sorry I dont remember the photogs name, and a Tshirt from BenD's transport company Tand A transport.

Sunday was a ton better. All rested and ready to go. We stopped at McTims pits and Tman was very cool to take a few minutes out of thrashing on the truck to let both the boys sit in it. Thanks Trent!

Ill post up some pics and stuff when I get a little more settled in at home. I came home earlier than usual on a straight drive back. Already talked to my usual Bonneville traveling buds and they all assure me the will be back next year for the ride.

  8. No worries man, I may add that you first won the item YOU dontated so the crowd pick a Tshirt for you! Kids were cool! Gotta teach them how to sleep for 10 hours in the backseat so they can drive the nightshift! ;)

Once upon a time in Southern California, say about 1962, after the oval races were over on Saturday night the really cool drivers brought their cars out onto the track and the kids piled on to take a lap. Every kid in this photo is having the time of their life!.

I didn't go to bville this year but last year I gave a bunch of aussie's a ride. they were in the 20's. bunch of partiers they were. problem was there were 4 of them. it took me an hour. haha they had fun and I got to here how they flew to la. bought a van in Compton and drove out to speedweek. I always try and give people rides in my cars. I was super lucky to grow up in a family that had hot rods. I try to think about those that didn't get that chance and even for so if it is a little kid. at the local cruising my wife and I always let the kid sit in our cars. who knows that kid could grow up to be the next great car builder!!!
