Vintage shots from days gone by!

Would that be near Bleaklow Stones in the Peak District? If so much of the Defiant that crashed there is still there! Some minor parts have been recovered in the 80s and 90s and used in other restoration projects.
I believe there are plans for an expedition to recover all that remains of this A/C.

Or after it actually sank in 'head of valley' and most of it still there could it be the Derwent Valley area? Although the Merlin was recovered in the 80s and is on display in the Museum of Science and Industry’s Air and Space gallery in Manchester.

 

No, I don't know what the 215 stands for, but it ain't for 2.15 litre.
The early Holden 6 was a 138 cu in capacity - that's 2.261 litres.
Also, no one, 'ceptin' the French knew anything about that black magic known as the metric system - that would be another 20 - 25 years before Australia succumbed to units based on a system of 10.
Heaven knows how much we miss the good old pounds, miles, yards and all those good old units that the US still loves.
Of course, US gallons being different to Imperial gallons has caused the odd SNAFU over time, but isn't that just all part of the charm .......???
