... Well not my hot rod. Down the bottom end of the planet, we have been having a FEW earthquakes. I was sitting on the ****per earlier thinking about how safe your hot rod is in your garage. I have shelves along my walls, and have removed any hard objects, which could fall and damage the Hudson. How 'nature' proof is your shed? Everytime theres a natural disaster anywhere on the planet, how many cool cars get damaged, when a simple tidy up could prevent it? Just thought id throw this up, and maybe a hot rod somewhere may be a litte safer for it.
My house and 3 outbuildings with 8 cars in one, and one in another, got hit by an EF1 tornado on July 10. I don't plan on doing anything to beef up anything. I will deal with what happens
F&J, sorry to read that. I guess a Tornado is the serious end of natural disasters. We have em come in off the sea, but they are babies compared to what you get in the states.
As much as these disasters ****. That's why you pay ins premiums.... Short of building an underground bunker. If your earthquake prone, make sure no shelves with things on them are around the car.....
Tornados and fires happen here, tsunamis and earthquakes don't. You can't do much to protect from tornados other than build according to codes and pay your premiums. I'd be sad if I lost a car to natural disaster, but I'd be much sadder if I lost a loved one that way. Keep it all in perspective!
yea we felt it well and trully yesterday its only 200mls to Welly. It felt like you were on a boat in a smooth swell.. up n down...up n down...I'm not good in boats
We felt the one around T time. Pretty mild here though. I see this thread got rated. Ye har, thats better than my other threads. Ha ha. One star. Natural disasters are traditional, lol.
Ricky, i guess my morning visit to the ****per, could be cl***ed as a natural disaster. Lol. The quake yesterday was a 6.5. I realised today that i need to quake safe my garage better.
I didn't realize you could cl***ify BMs on the richter scale...lol. Seriously...I wish you the best, and hope the earth settles down for you.
I think about the same thing every time I see a disaster on tv (of course I mourn the loss of life too but that's a different forum) I am lucky enough to live somewhere with few likely events. We get mini"tornados" called dust devils but they're only strong enough to pick up trash and sage brush mostly. Besides that we have extreme heat and flash floods, but those only effect cars on the street usually (my truck hasn't seen the road for a while) Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
****, if I move everything that could possibly fall on one of the 3 Hot Rods or 6 vintage bikes in the garage during a big earthquake, I'd need another 3 car garage! Maybe I just need less **** - Nah that sounds like my wife talking.
Even though I don't have a hot rod or cl***ic (yet), I still have the solution; have so much other **** and stuff in your garage that you can't put a car in there, even if you wanted to.
With all the changes to insurance after Christchurch ....make sure that you have adequate coverage for your home and shed ...."total replacement" ain't what it use to be!
We have had a lot of Colorado forest fires in the mountains. The news showed several cl***ic cars that burned to the ground in the last one along with hundreds of homes.. I think tornados are the most dangerous. You can run ,you can try to hide, good luck with that. underground seems to be your best chance of survival. Flat head Pete that ****s about your shoe box getting hammered.
Lol maybe so but that will probably hurt me more than my truck Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Coincidentally, I Accidentally drove through a dust devil today. I was between the freeway and an industrial park so it was more of a "Trash Devil"... Anyway something solid hit and put a chip in the windshield of my daily driver. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Back in the summer of 1981, an tornado "sideswiped" my buddy's muffler shop. Out in the country with no sirens to warn us back then We ran out about two minutes before the shop took off to the East. Tallest thing standing was my 56. His cherry Chevelle also took a hit. I have had a healthy respect for twisters ever since.
its a hell of alot safer sitting at home than it is driving around. Anyway I figure i fixed them up once I can certainly do it again. With insurance money the second time it will be easier .
