i thought instead of waiting on my wiring harness for the LS motor i'm putting in my truck i would throw a big block together right quick and try to get the truck to joplin too! this was my dads truck before i was born...my brother and i spent many hours in this thing playing like we was driving somewhere. even wheni it rained we would go out just to run that funny wiper that came from the top of the windshield...lol. it was an old national guard truck he somehow "ended up with". i never did get the real story about that. he had a nickname for it i always wondered how he came up with it...tobacco road. i asked my mom a few yrs ago and she said his folks had gone thru the dust bowl era and there was a movie named tobacco rd. he liked to watch...sure enough there was that movie. so i guess it was something sentimental to him. anyway gonna try to have it at the drags to pull the coupe home.
That's a straight IHC D-2! Where dd you find that one? Big block Chevy going in ? I have a couple of these trucks. One with sbc. Don
Hey don. My dad got it from somewhere over 50 yrs ago. Gave it to me when i was 16 and im just now 38 yrs later gettin to it.
well i had to take the block back to the machine shop cause the 2nd cam bearing wouldn't let the cam thru. so that took a half a day. now i have the crank and pistons in and the camshaft. yes they're flat tops cause when i get back from joplin i have a new 871 blower to put on top and then drop in my 55 nomad!!! gonna clean up a pair of head this afternoon and get them on then a nice intake i have and get it all buttoned up...then jump on the truck!
