Mine came out of a boneyard in 2008 and i had it at a car show 57 days later. Bone yard was moved to another location. I didn't know about the HAMB back then but I've cronicled the story here if you get bored.... http://www.bangshift.com/forum/showthread.php/5858-1961-Olds-88-2-Dr-Sedan-sneak-preview
Here is my 61 super 88 imported from California 2010. Anyone recognizing it? Photo by Gasoline Magazine 2011. Photo by the California owner.
Ray Don't recognize it at all but Olds never ever built a nicer body that that one. They are very high on my favorite oldsmobile's of all times list. That one of yours doesn't miss perfection by much if it misses perfection at all.
Here is mine. Have had it since 1968, did an on frame resto in 1980. Just drive it, not as often as I should. Need to do a frame off this winter.
We Love your Coupe, Last summer we found a beatiful Black restored '49 Olds 77 Coupe. I've always loved the '50 Olds Coupe. Just couldn't find one. So we found all the '50 side trim, tail lights (with the backup lenses), etc., and now it looks the part. We found a '57 J-2 eng in pieces and punched it an 1/8" to 4-1/8" Now it's 394" cu in. We also found a NOS B&M Olds Slantpan Hydrostick in a crate out of Calif. with linkage that we're going to run behind it. Got a '57 rear housing and 390 Posi unit that we're in the process of finding someone to narrow it up, and apply the '50's Coil spring brackets, and trailing arm mounts, etc..
