determining the rearend on my 54 Ford

    Crawled under the Ford today. Found some stamping's on it.

    Most bigger Mustangs, plus Mavericks and Granadas came with 8" or 9"
     
  4. It's not an 8" or a 9". Both those rears are a removable third member. The pictured unit is an integral unit like a GM 10 or 12 bolt or a Ford 8.8. The part number says 1976. May be a rear out of a 6 cylinder Maverick or Comet, Granada, etc. Measurements between backing plates and spring pads on the axle would help to determine exactly what it's from.

    So the Dimensions from inside of drum to inside of drum is 50 inches.
    And after doing a really good cleaning of the rearend the part number is;
