JW, I don't know how I find time to do ANYTHING! Life, work, family keeps me running about 19 hours a day. On the plus side I'm never bored!

Thanks N8! I don't know how I hadn't seen your build before, really bitchin' man!

Looks like you found a good solid frame and body to work with and you have good 'bartering skills'. Will this one have a final shell in Green , like the one you are wearing? I saw a similar yellow color one a while back on the Freedom Street Rods site and it was a real attention grabber. Will you be building for street use? and if so, are there requirements for fenders in Utah? Would like to see updates whenever they are possible very interesting project!

LOL, the final color will not be green like the car in my avatar, it will be a very deep maroon. The chassis that I bought it with was sold to a guy in Vegas, along with the matching title. Bob has hand built the new chassis from 1.5" x 3" rectangular steel.

Green is my color, but since our last rod was green the wife wanted something different.

Yes, the car will see daily street use. This part of Utah gets to be 115 in the summer but has very mild winters where we can drive roadsters and ride motorcycles year round. Think hot like Las Vegas climate with pretty scenery (Zion National Park) and none of the Vegas crap.

No fenders required here if under 2400 lbs., or maybe 2600... Can't remember. Or per '37???

Thanks for dropping in, I'll post updates as often as I can. Bertolasi, your shoebox is KILLER! Guys, go check it out!

Thanks Gary, I really miss it. It lives in Austin, Texas now.

Took me almost 10 years to build that car while raising six kids. One divorce later, finding the gal of my dreams, and help from folks like Bob and da34guy that got it finally on the road. I sold it without the fenders a few years later, the new owner's wife didn't feel safe in it so he put it on eBay. LOL, it ain't no Volvo.

Texas owner bought it and came to see me. While visiting I asked I he liked fenders and running boards, and as luck wold have it he did. He drove home to Austin and came back three weeks later. My car club got together that Saturday and "finished" the car.

It was great because that's how I'd always envisioned the car, but was too busy having fun once it was on the road to tear it apart. It was really hard to watch it drive away AGAIN but I got to see it all the way through!

  19. I don't want to hi-jack your thread, but even though I couldn't make it this year, it looks like it was a great time. See roadglide.org for more info!

Not hijacked at all, cool site! I'll look later tonight to see if there's any event coverage, thank you. :D

Thanks man! The new owner is a little "unusual" but very nice. He's real shy, and not easily approached, but he warms up quick. If you spot it let me know how its looking. I'm betting its a little worse for the wear.

It sure is nice to have a spouse who not only appreciates my hobbies but enjoys them too! After 13 years of a really BAD marriage I think the Lord was determined to give me a GREAT wife this time around! Been together just shy of 7 years and life is AWESOME!

Stopped by Bob's today. He's been picking away at smoothing the chassis. Even the joints and seams that are part of the K member that nobody will ever see are getting attention, it's just the way Bob is. No complaints on my end! :D

Not much to see, but the details are always hard to spot in photos. Let's just say it's looking bitchin' as you'd expect. Bob says first coat of primer will go on this weekend and it should be ready for color by next weekend. Yeah, I'm stoked!

I did a few sketches of the car to determine which colors go where. Anyone interested in seeing those?

    Thumbs up on the car.
Thumbs DOWN on the gas bottles with no cap and not chained to something.
You haven't lived till you have seen one of those with the neck knocked off do like a torpedo around a shop.

Pete, thanks for bringing that up. Knowing Bob, you would know he is a HUGE safety freak. The only way a bottle would be left like that in his shop (I'd imagine) was if it were 100% empty or a demonstration bottle (like a cutaway).

I haven't lived. I've never been around one of these when they've gone off... I'm happy to say! :)
