Are you sure you want to lose the sidmounts? That makes the profile, IMNO.

How's this? I reversed the red and white and lowered it and put on the disc covers.

This is what I was trying to envision. Thanks you all so much. The side mounts DO 'make' the car here.
The lowered brown version shows what I was afraid of the most-the area above the rear fender to the window looks just 'wrong,.
And to section this car would probably be beyond my skill set. Plus a LOT of time for minimal visual return.
Was the top lowered in the blue pic?

I need to replace the front wheels, as they have to much runout and are causing issues.

I am thinking I want some Torq thrusts, with the grey center section. Please lose the white letters as well.

I am open to other options as well.

The salt flat specials with the grey center would also be sweet.

  7. Just a heads-up to any of the Photoshoppers in this thread. My old KB Gear Jam Tablet ($15 from Big Lots) finally crapped out on me after about 8 years or so of use. Now if you're like me, and I know I am, you might not have a couple hundred dollars to drop on a new Wacom tablet. In which case you need to look into one of these Monoprice graphics tablets.

    http://www.monoprice.com/products/s...d=10325&cs_id=1032501&pn=computer_accessories

For the most part I'd say don't worry too much about the larger sizes. The tablet doesn't need to be anything near the size of your monitor. My old tablet was a 7x5 and I replaced it with this Monoprice 8x6 and that's about all the desktop space I'm willing to give up.

    http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?p_id=5553&seq=1&format=2

So far this thing has been working as smooth as butter. Much better sensitivity than my old tablet and best of all at $42 a whole lot cheaper than a Wacom.

If you're still trying to do PS "airbrush" paint jobs with a mouse this thing will blow you away!

Oops....I should have probably read your response first
Anywho, I had a little free time this afternoon, so I wanted to change up your car a bit.

Looks like we were sort of on the same page as far as the two-tone color. I drew a little inspiration from the Barris '51 Chevy custom that was done for Larry Ernst. I also replaced the maroon with a brandywine color. If I get some free time, I'll see if I can do those other changes you were looking for.

In my two versions, the brown and the blue, the top was chopped, but just a bit, maybe an inch or so. The car is not sectioned.

37 wires from what brand? I don't recall Ford having them in 37, Google was no help either.

Found a stand-in for your truck. Changed the side trim a bit, lowered it, added whitewalls, Moon caps and an appropriate racing number. Then moved it to Bonneville!

N.Oz... thanks for the work. now that I see it with the skirts. I think it need some chrome strips added (like a 47 chevy fleetline skirt to help break it up... but it looks good with lowering, skirts and hubcapwhitewalls

Dave that is awesome! I really appreciate it, I think that leaves it close enough to stock but gives it a sweet retro feel. I probably wont do the number, but I love the little mooneyes guy, that's keeper for sure! It seems like the creamy white fits a little better than the bright white as well. Any other ideas as far as paint? The wheels/tires and stance are perfect!

I can't really see what you did with the trim, can you explain it?

Do you have a brother Jack perhaps?

Glad you like it! When I was growing up we had a two-tone '57 Ford coupe, so they have always held a spot in my heart. And I really dig Rancheros and El Caminos.

Here is a comparison shot of the car I started with (a real beaut!) and the final product. I shaved the door handles and script and lowered it over the whitewalls and moons.

Look at the rear quarter stainless: I lengthened the straight spear and moved the curved section to meet with the door line. It's a subtle change but gives a custom look to the otherwise stock body & two-tone paint. In real life, you'd need an extra set of rear-quarter stainless to cut up.

For a Bonneville-inspired custom, I like any of the fifties colors in two-tone combinations.

    Oh, and no brother Jack!

Hi all, I see some really neat things in this thread! Would anyone like to look at color schemes for my 56 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer? Interior is NOS green, so I'd kinda like to keep that, but it depends on what cool combos show up on here! Yes, those are 2005 Mustang fake Halibrand wheels painted the dark body color.

LN7 has done this one before, but this picture is more put together.

    Would someone please:

    1) Change the cab and bed color to black (can glossy be done?)

    2) Chop the bottom of the upper door frame to the bottom of the tape line (5" chop)

    Thanks!

For sure! the color combo is amazing, just trying to think of a way to break up the red/black on the back, as far as I know, there is no trim special or deluxe that goes all the way around. maybe a fancy pin stripping or something.........

Yeah, I guess it's a lot easier to do it on the computer than in real life. I think a nice pinstripe will do the trick. Of course, you could always make some custom trim and extend it all the way back ;)

Man I'm so glad you hated it. To me it was a definite "toss your cookies" moment:eek:. Way too much white. Maybe regular old steels and piecrust on the rear? Crap, gotta go search my archives now. lol
