Checking in from Bendigo Australia, New member looking for some sound advice. I'm a novice builder so decided I needed something not too challenging to start with. Bought a nic 36 5 Window Coupe back from Memphis last year. Body paint chassis suspension brakes and steering all great but plenty of work to do on the drivetrain. I think its an 8BA with 39 top loader but the flywheel looks odd and I can't identify it and the 10" clutch doesn't appear to match. The Model 10CF pressure plate looks like its the right unit but I doubt the overall combination is right. I found some washers used as spacers to keep the bell housing away from the back of the engine and there was no bolt and washer holding the Uni joint onto the rear of the transmission, and of course plenty of oil leaks from engine and tranny. The 8BA is being rebuilt by a trusted flatly builder down this way while I try and sort out the rest of the puzzle and slow te tranny leaks. When I work out how to downsize and load some photos of my bits and pieces on the site, I"m sure somebody will recognize what they are and be able to help. Somebody may even recognize the car and be able to put me in contact with the builder. That would save me buckets of time. All advice accepted by the novice with thanks
Wow, nice coupe. Welcome, this is a great way to learn off of other like minded folks. Good luck! -H.R.D-
Rod at Advanced Engine Dynamics Bendigo is doing the rebuild. The Aussie flathead forums all pointed me in his direction.
I can't recall each of the sources but the Ozzrodders bulletin board was one that comes to mind. www.ozzrodders.com.au
HaHa Simon. I must be one of them as I post there occassionally. ps. I'm not a "complete" idiot as I some bits missing.
