In honor of Dad's birthday, 8/16, I'm able to announce that the new HGF collection is available! You can order it from me (private message, eBay or www.HenryGregorFelsen.com) if you want it autographed, or it is also available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble Online. They are $15 each. We now have Hot Rod, Street Rod, Rag Top, Fever Heat, Crash Club, and Road Rocket. FelsenInk.com is a new site combining my dad's books with my art work. Sorry to everyone for taking so long to get the books out. It was a lot harder and more labor intensive than I expected! It was also an emotional roller coaster for me, so I had to take breaks from it. Also want you to know that I am going to be signing books at the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame on October 10, if you are in the area, stop by! Holly
Very cool,.... I was totally hooked on your Dad's work when in my 10th grade English cl***,.. I had trouble finding a book for a report. I was a gear head kid, and my English teacher (Mrs. Brown) told me to stay after cl***,.... She handed me a copy of Hot Rod,...The first paragraph had me hooked !!!. It was the very first novel I read, and did it in short order.... wrote my report with p***ion and even got a good grade.... I read every one of them and would love to do it again.... Solid Hot Rod culture from back in the day, literary works that evoke emotion and the feeling of being involved in the characters lives... As well as the feeling of driving Hot Rods and speed . If you never read these books,..... You owe it to yourself to take a ride back in time in every one of these cool little time machines. Happy Birthday Henry !....
I was the same way, read amd re read Hot Rod, Street Rod and Crash Club many times. Several yesrs ago I ran across a 4 book set that I bought, and have re read rhem several times. If anyone hasn't read them, you owe it to yourself to read them
Thinking about it,.... I am totally surprised "Hot Rod" was never considered for movie adaptation,...... It would be a hit even today ! (IMHO)
I think this thread not only deserves another read,.... but mayby some of you guys can tell us about when you read Hot Rod or one of Henry Gregor Felsen's other books.
With the thread rating it appears someone has his head in the sand or elsewhere! Thousands of us Greybeards that were not raised with television and instant gratification that came with privilege spend many a hour lost in the tales spun by Henry Gregor Felsen books and for us the seed was planted. If you haven't read these books I encourage you to do so. HRP
Exactly what I was thinking,..... Everybody is all about "Traditional" like they invented it themselves,... And when given an opportunity at a genuine look into true traditional hot rod culture, There way too cool for that ! ,... They live in there little co**** believing they are the epicenter and grand all knowing sage of traditional hot rodding....... those are the ones that will NEVER "get it".
Henry Gregor Felsen and William Campbell Gault wrote the best JH/HS car books ever. I read them all at least once a year for about five years. Great to see the Felsen series is being reprinted. jack vines
They were THE most read book, in our high school library !!!! And well worth the wait, to get them !!!!!!!!!!!!! 4TTRUK
If you got to that link and click on 'buy the books' it goes to a dead link. I did find them on Amazon.
Hi Holly, I asked about this before but maybe you didn't see it. When Rag Top came out under its original ***le Cup of Fury, was the ending different from what it is now? If so, why was it changed? (Anyone else here know about this?)
I cannot get it to open either. The last thing a vendor wants is the system to go dead when you click on BUY!! I will try amazon, thanks for that lead.
Holly Is the NC Racing Hall of Fame the facility in Mooresville? If so, I will make every effort to be there!
I read "Hot Rod" and "Street Rod" when I was in 7th or 8th grade in the late '70's while growing up in a small farm town in Minnesota. Other than the car magazines in the school library these books were my first exposure to hot rods and hot rodding. I never could remember who wrote them but they stuck with me and I would occasionally think about both books. I had decided it was time I search them out to buy and read again. Yesterday I picked up "The Hot Rod Reader", it has an excerpt from "Hot Rod". I recognized the first few paragraphs almost immediately. I knew I could probably find references to the books or author here on the HAMB.
Congrats Holly! I know what a ride this was for you. I'm taking the same trip right now, with my latest. Oct 10th is my birthday - would love to spend it with you and Mike as your loyal ***istant... Scotty
Bought the book set off of Mr. Felsen quite a few years ago at the streetrod nats in Louisville where he was signing them , We talked for awhile very nice gentleman!. FRANK
69 years old and opened MY new set of these books this morning for Christmas - all personalized to me from Holly. Ready to sit back, feet up and enjoy the rest of the day! Merry Christmas All!
Last in line... does anyone know if one of these books has a pink 32 roadster, with copper plating as a main element? Recall reading that years ago, but not sure if this is the author...
