Looks like some kind of welding mask, gas mask hybrid. I'm sure your head would feel just awesome after 8 hrs in something like that.

Just looking at this photo invokes a desire to "go back' when life was simpler, safer, and more care-free. Is it the clean air, the open garage door, the children walking alone and having fun or ????



Whatever it is certainly instills a yearning for those days long ago!

 

Of course lawn-mower man was probably thinking "Dammit, this isn't like the good old days when I could mow my little lawn in ten minutes with the old reel mower instead of this hard-starting, smelly piece of crap... and we could walk to the store 'stead of driving to the shopping center and every other damn place... and take the street car to work instead of sitting in traffic on the damn thruway... and we knew all the neighbors and the kids could walk to school... life was so much simpler back then!"

So true, Froghawk, but I'd still take back that time if I could!
