Modern builders do NOT have to follow what the boys did way back when or the guy around the corner today. Saying much ado, lets see the build. Suck in that gut while the beat goes on.

The red and yellow ones have all kinds of craziness going on. A modified Willys axle on the red one.

Also there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to the use of windshield support bars, topless or not they are hit and miss? Again, all these pics I have posted are 1970 and earlier.

Damn you, Need Louvers ? you started T fever:p

Post #724, The last three pictures, I'm getting slow on the uptake lately! Ray Elliot's car as snapped by FOREVER Phoenix photog J.R. Bloom. Pretty sure the car was local to Phoenix in the late sixties, as I have a photo collection from a good friend from that time period that shows it at local events as well. Pretty damn sure I could drive to the photo shoot location right now too.

Never seen that article before!! Way cool! Thing sure is short, isnt it? By the way, Dont know if you recall, on the thread I started on Steel Nazi's dads orange SBF T-bucket, I mentioned a similar red T bucket with a ram-log SBC I had an article on, and had been looking for that article for like, 3-4 months without success? Well, while I was hunting for the Hot Rod that had the article on this blue coupester, I found it by accident! Funny how often it happens that I hunt and hunt for something without success, then find it when I'm not looking for it!

I'll post it on both threads tomorrow. Its a pretty slick car, very typical for a $$ up car from the era, lotsa chrome, the usual 14" box length, 3" chop and V8-60 front axle, chromed '49-'56 olds rear on a transverse leaf, americans with racemasters on the back, hurst-airheart discs on the rear, no front brakes, 12 spokes, 4 speed, 327 with a mag, Edelbrock XC-8 and AFB's, 6" headlights, one unusual feature, two glass t grill shells molded together for extra width(looks better than it sounds), black button-tuft interior.

I've been enjoying it for 35 + years. One of my favorites is rarely seen for some reason. It was in an ad that had Linda Vaughn and two other blondes. It was 4 cylinder powered and black and yellow. It was one of the first buckets I liked. After that, I sought out great examples where ever they were featured.

Yes!!! Click. Copy. Saved!!! Thanks, Lost Angel. For the time period, that's a nicely built, conservative T Bucket. The tall windshield actually looks good on it, from this angle. My objection of tall windshields has to do with when they are used. Some cars have pulled it off, others haven't. I think tall top looks great on a fender car, but otherwise, it's got to fit a time frame and theme. A lot of times, they look like an after thought. My opinion is the same about brass radiators. They just look so GRAND and elegant. Not something you'd put on a stripped down cruiser. I also never liked the Dan Wood's front suspension, but it looks good on this car.

I guess it all boils down to what the owner is looking to accomplish, but some styling cues can't be ignored.

If you look real close, you'll see that is a touring. It was built by Dan Woods in the early seventies and owned by Richard graves at one point. There is a picture of it in Street Rodder at the Anaheim show in '74 or so.

Oh, I wasn't going to post any of it here 'cause it is sooooooo not traditional, but that car is one of the inspirations for the touring I'm putting together for a client right now. The body is just set on with no floor and the rear suspension isn't even close to ride height... Truly bad photos!

You might not, but I will. This car is wrong in every way as far as I'm concerned except the nailhead. What a waste of machinery.

It's actually not bad, till you look at the interior. Headrests?

Didn't see the headlights. That Nailhead and interior got my attention. But then, during it's day, a lot of style went out the window. Funny, some of the guilty parties are on the HAMB and won't claim that era or the 80's and 90's pastels. They're still in the closet, but talking shit.
