Projects 31 vicky project build thread going a different direction

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by tub in da dirt, Jun 15, 2013.

  1. well i sold the vicky to buy this sports coupe
my dad restored it in 1984. they have home movies of me at the age of 5 working on it. the owner died and the some inhereted it.
we bought it back. it had 249 miles on it since resto
im going the same dirrection as with the vicky only its way nicer to begin with

so i have had this car for a while and i haven't touched it much
    i gathered all the pieces
    wheels n tires
33-34 axle perches and i reversed the spring eye
    t rear spring.
a family friend and great model a ford innovator made an adapter to put a v8 trans in a model in the 60's and some how i was able to track one down...so that's going in.
    the banger is staying
its getting a head cam intake ignition and header...pretty standard hot rod stuff.

the guy i bought it from is a good friend and one hell of a sign painter artist and pinstriper, but i didn't like the checker flags that he painted on the interior. sooo one of the first thing i am doing is toning down the interior.

i painted the floor and back of the body black and went to joanne fabric and got some cheap material to cover it

so now onto the suspension and engine
sorry the pics are upside down

  8. I don't know that I'd drop it any more and I'm not crazy about chopping it...I'd slap a set of fenders on it though!

  9. update...kinda
can you say chrome wishbone and dropped axle with mechanical brakes
(actually a 33/34 axle) but is a drop from a 31 that was on it

The vicky is the one and only "A" that doesn't need a chop in my book. Heck, they even look good full fendered. Sounds like you're on the right track

  12. Good plan, I love the Vicky's lines...pretty much perfect. Fenders?

I'm in on this one. I wish mine looked near as good as yours right now. I've been gathering parts but haven't started on it yet with other projects in the way.

  14. Glad your not chopping it. Vicky's already look chopped from the factory. I always thought they looked funny when chopped. Not Haha funny more like WTF why did they do that, funny!

  15. change the project up
my son is the same age as i was when my dad restored it so i have a bit of attachment to the car

I'm confused. You sold the vicky to buy the sport coupe, or sold the sport coupe to buy the vicky?

Why is everybody still talking about the vicky then? :) Sport coupes are under-rated. They can be every bit as cool.

  19. Lol I screwed the pooch on this one. I edited the original post as an announcement that I sold the Vicky
