COE COE Picture thread (imported from main board)

Discussion in 'Off Topic Hot Rods & Customs' started by Duration, Oct 30, 2007.

  1. I think it had to do with being more maneuverable in fields, almost all seem to have had grain bodies on them.
I knew a potato farmer here in Wisconsin that used them for harvesting potatos. He claimed it was easier for the truck driver to communicate with the harvester operator because they sat closer to the same height.

The Bedford coe's are strange with the front wheels directly under the doors making access difficult tmo anyway,so with the short nose, the motor takes up cab space,i do like the split screen with the pop out windows, like the VW'S,i think i'll put em in my chev cab when I find one !

  8. We also have fewer tin worms out here in the high desert. Old stuff lasts a long time.

Anyone know what a stock 41 Ford COE (less the bed) weights?

  10. I seem to remember reading somewhere 5400-6000#. They certainly weren't as heavy as modern similarly rated stuff.

I've posted about this one before. A 1938 Mack that has been restored here in Castlemaine.
Was a former Bell Telephone company work truck in the US before it came here.
Even has the restored logo on the door.

The guide type headlights suit it.

    Now that looks good.

I am a little disappointed I am not going to see it finished as the chassis is not here with it.

I like 'em. These trucks need a bigger wheel/tire like that to fill up the fender opening.

Thanks man..these wheels do look better than 70s 80s steelies.
I have the choice to convert these to 18" filling a bit more but @ 200 per.I have to save my pennies and tyres are not cheap either.
If I could convert them to 17" i can buy whitewalls for 200 @ piece..
So I guess its saving time for wheels and tires from now on.

  27. Just my opinion! Bring the box sides up so the top edge is about even with the drivers elbow. I did this on a Studebaker and it really*****ed the top down as if it were chopped.
On this one I dropped the whole cab 4" also.

Appears to be a 48-52 Ford conventional cab (note flat door bottoms) converted to a cabover. Have seen pics of a few of these....
