Has anyone used this style of flex coupling with any success or do they leak ? I made a H pip and the crossover is at a strange angle that only this type would really work .I am hoping they work so I don't have to change my whole set up . http://www.ebay.com/itm/171058366968?item=171058366968&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:X:AAQ:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtr
I have them in several of my own vehicles, and have installed them in dozens of customer vehicles. The do not leak. The ones I use have a flex section a little longer than that. I principally use them to prevent vibration in the exhaust system, and that vibration being transferred to other surfaces. My daily driver has two.
Ok cool thanks for info .My only other option I am not sure if they even make it anymore .Its that corrugated actual rigid exhaust pipe that allows it to be bent easier into a odd bend .I could not even find that anymore so the flex would work fine .
Flexi exhaust pipe is great stuff - can solve all sorts problems. Looks really good if you can position it where it can be seen - especially hanging out the side of the hood etc. Very hotroddy!
This is a case of "you get what you pay for". Those flex pipes come in a lot of different qualities, some better than others. As for leaks, modern OEM manufacturers use them all the time.
I would add that the flex you show isn't for making bends. It's to allow movement and take up vibrations as said above. There are ones that have an inner lock that last longer than the inner braid ones. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Stop at muffler shop and ask if you can play with one you will see there is not much movement in one as stated thay are for vibation more than misalinement
I used a couple flex pipes in my exhaust system to cut down on vibrations. The exhaust tips run through openings in my running boards and don't have a lot of extra clearance. I don't think they will do a lot for misalignment issues unless they're fairly minor.
yep installed them on many a tug boat when I was younger , also used them on semis and heavy equipment too , the old style flex pipe you have to look around for it as in smaller sizes its hard to find , Jc whitney used to sell it by the roll , the good braided ones are made by the major muffler manufactuers and Donoldson if you find a truck- heavy equipment supply place see if they have a catalog with them in them .
