These last two may be slightly OT. The first one is a bit "street roddy". The second one is a bit "ratty". But what intrigues me about both of them is the extensive work involved. This one's all fibergl***...every bit of it except for the original grill shell. Big deal, right? But what I thought was pretty neat, is that it's not a manufactured body...the guy built the entire body himself...body, bed, fenders, running boards and hood. The grill is original steel. He does run a fibergl*** production company, making parts for motorcycles...but this was the first time he ever tackled a project this big. This one is all steel...built entirely by the owner...he's a sheetmetal worker for Chrysler. And even though the body has a rough unfinished look, it's properly built...it's in no way unsafe. It doesn't have any of the doo-dads we usually ***ociate with a rr. And I think he got the proportions about right. He built the body from a '46 Dodge pickup cab...sectioned down the middle, the top removed of course, with a flat piece added to the top of the windshield, and he lengthened it 3" behind the doors. He also built the bed, grill and the entire ch***is from scratch. 360ci auto. Quarter eliptical front suspension.
Not a RR...that's a bonfide hot rod! These cars are typical but are pretty. I esp like the 2nd '57 Chevy in black...the sedan.
Reminds me of local guy Cam Grants fibergl*** '31 Model A Roadster, that was featured in R&C about 40 years ago. Big deal, just another non-HAMB friendly kit car, right. Yea, except he borrowed a steel body, made molds, and made his own arrow-straight body...
Hey Rick - you've got some pretty nice cars in your neck of the woods. My favorites are the green shoebox, the black '57 hardtop and believe it or not, that '63 Olds, just cause it reminds me of my first car.
Kinda cool to see the similarities that tie us together across this great country. Looks a lot like the cruise we have weekly just 2 miles from my house. Of course it helps to see it through the eyes of a fellow Hamber who has like taste in rides. Thanks for sharing!
Rick, Thanks for the great pics, except for the lack of rust and bondo, they could have been taken across the line in Ontario.
The guy with the 'gl*** car also has two gl*** sedans, one with fenders and one without and all with the same paint scheme. Really cool guy and very talented.
VT, I showed that coupe a couple of weeks ago along with some other cars...but for some reason the thread disappeared. Here it is again. 302 auto.
You bet, VT. Imo, it's one of better cars that frequent this little get together. I'll show some more cars from this coming Thursday, maybe...if they're worth showing.
