Thanks! '32 grill sliced off sitting ontop of the frame... I'm pretty much copying the #20 car that you posted.

Dang Eric, next time for sure! I don't think there was more than a few minutes when I didn't have a wrench in my hand out there anyhow!

Steering from the box to the wheels is DONE... gotta shorten up a column mast and fit a keyed input shaft tmw...

    Love this, Andy.

Interesting that you welded the rear "quarter" onto the tub. Why so?

Thanks again boys, I'm pretty stoked on it! Brent, I've seen pics several original lakes racers that were "streamlined" in this manner, I just like the idea/look of it and I feel like it's just an example of an idea, however small, that deserves some daylight shone on it... if that makes sense...? Plus, being of unitized construction, it sure can't hurt to strengthen things up and prevent shaking/squeaking/etc...

This morning, I fit the keyed steering input shaft to the box, cut down the mast, and fit the wheel. I also fine tuned the drop on the steering arms a bit and started laying out the seat back panel ... but, I forgot my camera so here's another shot of the draglink...

Not for the moment... I'm kinda undecided on what to do there as of yet. My original plans were to build a duvall-ish screen from stainless, but as this car has taken on more of a all-out racecar theme, that seems a bit too, uh... high-brow? I think I'm going to make an aluminum tonneau with just a single hole for the driver so I may mount something small/simple to it like Estes' roadster. Or maybe just a single flip style aeroscreen like Jer's car? I don't know yet, I'm going to let it figure itself out as the build progresses... I emailed Mel to see if I NEED one for the beach. For now "nothing" seems to fit the part just fine!:D

    WWII gogles!

I think the ones on the dirt track cars were as much for keeping rocks and mud from hitting your knuckles then anything else.

The #19 is still around (all in pieces), thought you might want to see some more of it, taken around 1950, notice the "Kinmonts" and the in-out box.

It's not for sale, same owner since '49. I also have a movie of it racing in '48, in color no less! One of these days I will get it on utube. Here are a couple more.

  21. Love the hood Andy! I was just looking at the birth of hot rodding book last night and digging on one that was polished up and louvered. #yummy

All of these photos of old dirt track roadsters are giving me an itch. Especially after seeing Zach's current project and watching Andy's..

Track nose is still in the final plan... But the sectioned/narrowed/solid A grille will be in place for the time being....
