    Some more from the 1940's.

1941 Buick. My Worthington High School Chemistry teacher with his new Buick. He traded a 1939 Dodge--on a salary of less than $2,000. I took the photo with a Super Ikonta A.

1941 at Columbus, Ohio Airport-CMH. "Physics class trip to airport, October 1941. Argus C2, Panatomic X, developed D-76" I wrote on a negative envelope that I just found.

I was a senior at Worthington High chool at the time. Frank Pyle, our Physics teacher, later became a vice president of Gulf.

I think the plane is a DC-3. The Columbus airport was in a small. building on Fifth Avenue. Looking at this photo reminds me of how simple it was to board a plane in those days. You just walked a few feet and climbed aboard. But it took lots more money to buy a ticket.

Start of the 1940 Indianapolis 500. The race winner, for the third time, was Wilbur Shaw. He is in car number 1 in the middle of the front row.

    Nice racing car. France.

Print bought in a Paris flea market. Date on the back (written in French) : ''18 Juillet 1954''

Print bought in Paris. No inscription on the back. The number 75 on the license plate indicates that the car was registered in Paris.

  14. Had a '46 exactly like this one with a 318/747 in it, less the bumper guards.
