Alright, for all of those who have asked to see this thing, and for all those who could give a rats ass....here it is....my boat tailed roadster thing. Keep in mind that i took all of 5 min to set up the mock-up, it will look much different when i assemble it this weekend into some kind of car. As for specs on the car, its a 1919 dodge cowl, 41 ford truck hood for the rear half, frame is home built out of 2x4 steel, front axle is a '37 ford with the wish bones split and a model A front spring and 35 ford hub and buick finned drums. The rear end will be out of a '40 ford (didn't have it with me when i set up the mock-up) with a model a spring and LONG '35 ford 1 1/2 ton radius rods. Steering box is out of a '48 ford pick-up along with the transmission which is mounted behind an '49 8BA flathead. I think this thing will be fun, hope a few of you out there like it, if not...keep it to yourself.
now that I have the majority of the parts in one spot...the frame will be a roller this weekend, get the motor mocked up and mounted next weekend, then start on the body the weekend after....should move under its own power by christmas time.....as long as its a driver in time for VLV i'll be happy with it.
Yeah...I used to always underestimate how much time it would take to do stuff too... Sorry but I actually laughed out loud when I read that you would be assembling it into a car over the weekend. That was really funny. Seriously...give yourself realistic time frames to complete stuff. You must know that it won't fall together. Not trying to be an asshat just don't want to see you become overwhelmed with how much there is to do, and give up. Olson
Don't get me wrong when i say im doing assembley this weekend...im only mounting the springs, wishbones and rear axles.....just enough to make the chassis roll....and im in no way trying to brag here, but I was building frames and full rolling chassis for an extinct rod shop in washington for 3 years before i joined the military, I can assemble a kit model T in just over 8 hrs. Granted...this thing is no kit, im not trying to rush into getting it done...all im looking for is it moving by x-mas and ready for the long haul in april for viva las vegas.
Since everyone else is sharing there oppinion.....I've talked with a lot of really nice and helpful people on this board over the years I've been reading the posts....never would I have believed the ignorant oppinionated asses I would run into when I finally decide to join in. Hate to say it but this may be may last post.
So lets here from some of you other people out there...anyone have pics of there current projects?....im looking for more people doing the low buck thing....
easy lemon squeezie...haven't heard that in forever...nudder belly laugh from this post! But he's right. Don't be bitter. Maybe you can put a kit t chassis together in 8 hours. But that's no kit t you've shown us, and most of us have been around long enough to know better. Your other post where you clarified your goal was much more realistic. You have to remember though, that enough people come in with their chest puffed out thinkin' they're the shit 'cause they got a pile of parts and they think they know what to do...well it's pretty funny is all. Rather than letting us annoy you, show us what ya got! Do what ya say ya wanna and show it off and you'll get all the "right on's" you could ever want. Hell we were easy on ya... Olson
Looks like an awesome pile of rust...now since your still awake. get out in the garage an start buildin.. If it ain't drivable by X-mas....I'll be pissed...lol j/k looks fun an neat.
its going to be fun....tore into the flattie tonight after work and found a cracked piston....anyone have a recomendation for affordable flattie pintons?
ah hahah, thats what you get for not building a model A. good luck with it, and dont let this run you off. it gets worse.. trey
