Got home from a 1660KM+ round trip to Spokane today. Had a blast! I think it's safe to say my shoe is "battle tested" haha

Throwing my "box" onto the screen....bought as a driver (SBC 350/350), tore it apart last fall and my son and I sectioned the beast in 8 days....tacked back together, front sheet metal and deck lid fit.:)

I am now finalizing the welding, repairing rustout in rockers, lower body, and getting ready to install a '70 Nova clip, '54 Ford dash, tilt steering.

For full project reports, just search Montana Shoebox Section (project)

Actually found a set at CTC ranch but was for a longer quarters than originally used so the straight pieces are being shortened and then all will be polished before it is mounted. I could not find the star-chief stuff so will go, again, with the catalina style (narrow from the get-go). Thanks for the interest and feedback. bob

Keep in mind, the Canadian Pontiacs also offered the same trim. That might be another option for you. Larry

Do hardtops still count as a shoebox? I found this old photo of one Dad had in the early 70s.

    hey guys,

new to the forum. i've got a 64 chevy belair but just picked up a 50 ford this week.

i've got LOTS of questions about it, because it is so different from the chevy, but i don't want to embarrass myself so i will lurk around some more before posting questions.

i got this out of the middle of PA from an old timer who was moving to florida for retirement. had it flat-bedded 200 miles back to NJ this week, and so far all i have been able to do is wash it and start to go through all the systems and see what works and what doesnt.

    on to the pics:

here she is with my belair:

the car is super solid. the only thing i know i need to do so far is get rid of those square side mirrors pronto, and find a decent shop to rechrome the front bumper

again, i feel a little lost with this car and don't know where to begin so i've got a ton of questions. thankfully this seems to be the place for all things shoebox so i need to dig in and get reading.

First thing, Buy a Green Bible (49-51 owners manual) from ebay or Amazon. Second thing, but some Aerostar front springs and some lowering blocks for the rear .

My new 51. Been sitting with the same owner for almost 12 years. I having nothing nice to say about him. Had the car for about two week.

57K original Miles. 312 Y Block, 4 speed manual, it clearly was a show car as some point as the chrome is just so good. Keep pulling weird stuff off it like lights in the wheel wells. At some point I even think there was tuck and roll in the wheel wells.

But now brakes work, motor actually runs properly, new radiator, fluid's. Needs a rear end ratio change. Need to pull the interior and patch up a few seams.

Still have a bad suspension bushing or rubber issue that I need to track down. Then I can decide what to do with the aesthetics. Was going to chop it but might pull the flames off it and just lace the roof.
