  4. Thank you, I got the first part painted. The steering column will be painted gloss black also. I take small parts to work with me a few at a time and paint them during my lunch break. I'm gonna have the clutch/brake pedal arms chrome plated also. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1377386284.786964.jpg

Looks great! Not sure how you get anything done working in that mess though.

I'm pretty much done with the welding on the frame. I had a hard time pulling the body off the frame because the rear rails are a touch wide. Not to mention i did it by my self with a floor jack and 8 jack stands. So I tapered the rear frame rail ends to make it easer when I put the body back on. I pie cut the rails back 4" then welded them back together. Also capped the ends of the rails and the two rear suspension mounts.

  14. Thanks Andy, I'm no Brian Bass that's for sure.

  15. Ha ha, I'll make sure I tell him.

Thanks guys, gonna drop the frame off at the blasters Monday after work. Hope to have the frame, axles, and a lot of other small stuff painted in the next couple weeks.

  16. Since the frame is at the blasters I started working on the seat. I want to get seat built and all the mounts made before I start doing bodywork and paint. I got a 3rd row seat out of a junk mini van at work for free. I peeled the seat cover off the foam and cut 5" out of the seat bottom frame and foam. I had to notch the bottom of the seat back also to fit over the tunnel. Still got to figure out how I'm going to mount it all and gotta do some more work on the frames. So far it fits pretty good and is comfortable. The foam will be smoothed out and I'll have it covered in leather tuck n roll. 18. Got the frame back from the blasters last Friday. I epoxied it Friday night and the next day started doing bodywork to the outer original frame rails. They were pretty pitted up from rust, but a skim coat of mud fixed that. Just primed the rails tonight and plan on painting the frame, axles, and a bunch of other parts on Saturday. I see you have access to a down draft booth. Nice. Parts came out real nice. I'm still getting used to the single stage chassis paint myself. It's hot as hell here in Texas.

Great build. I've been going through your pics over and over. Got lots of ideas from.

    Thanks!

  21. Thanks Lupe, yea my boss is pretty cool about letting me use the shop after hours. Plus it helps I only live 2 miles from my work so its easy to come and go while working on my own stuff. I actually used base clear on all the parts including the frame. I have most of the chassis assembled now and will be rolling by the weekend.

  22. I bought the complete front brake setup from a guy that was replacing them with disk brakes. I'm not sure what the hubs are but something is not right with the setup. I didn't want to find different hubs since they already fit my wheels and everything fits pretty well. Problem is 3/16" of the brake shoe was not inside the drum. I figure the easiest way to fix it was to make a 3/16" shim to move the backing plate into the drum more.

First I had to trim off 3/16" off the lip of the backing plate. It was too big to fit in my lathe, so I mounted it on my rotary table in my mill. (This was before I painted them) ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1380165128.049685.jpg

  24. I made the shim out of 3/16" plate steel. I cut the outside shape with my bandsaw, and used my mill to make the inner hole.
I just made the shims tonight so I'll take them to work tomorrow and paint them and bolt them up for good tomorrow night. All bolted up the shims are hardly noticeable. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1380165704.848375.jpg

I still have to fix a couple of broken fins on the drums. Then I'll true them up and blast them to clean them up.

I tore the motor down so I can check it over and paint it. I've been collecting motor parts too. I got new Bob Drake water pumps, Navarro heads, and a mellower cam for the street. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1384900721.903570.jpg
