So this is my car that was stolen, Fist off thanks to everybody keeping an eye out. I am for sure doing some sort of lowjack on my next car. It was a 327 car with a 3 speed on the floor. It was a pretty stock car other than the wheels, shifter, and some odds and ends. Some things that would make it stand out are the hood pins and the was a deep scratch on the roof of the car. The car was also lowered too.
I did see one on the local WI Craigslist that looked identical but had a 3 speed not a 4, don't think the thieves are dumb enough to post it for sale Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
The thing is,alot of them are dumb ****s !if it's still out there it's most likely got sports wheels and ''maybe''a color change on the roof !
What a bummer. I work out there and live in Jefferson I will let my friend know and keep my eyes wide open. What did the cops have to say?
Someone up thread mentioned checking with the museum to see if they had any security cameras - have you found out? It's surrounded by county land, there may be a camera in the O'Donnell parking structure across the street. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
That ****s ask the museum to review the security cams. I will share this on my Facebook page good luck i hope you recover the car.
not to be a *** or anything , but does Milwaukee have the DHLS rules like Chicago that vehicles parked infront of public structures get towed ????( unles the Police dept Ok s it ) did anyone bother to check Milwaukees contractor for towing ?? I know in Chicago the towing company doesn't contact CPD they just hook and go and fill out paperwork later . might be a long shot .
I had a car stolen years ago in Boston, thieves left it on the street where it got many parking tickets, then got towed to a lot.... First thing I heard about it was from the Court asking me to pay the tickets !! Had to call around to find out where the car was.
They didn't figure out they were ticketing a stolen car? Sounds like a lack of communication. My brother sold his Monte Carlo, about three months later he got a notice in the mail from the police that it had been impounded. The kid had never transferred the ***le. My brother paid the the fees against the car and told the kid he could have it back if he paid the fees. That's been about fifteen years ago and my brother still has the car.
We are talking Boston cops.... a few years ago the city auctioned off some impounded cars. When a couple of the buyers went to register them with the DMV, they were told they had been reported stolen... Cops apparently impounded them (maybe left on the street like mine) and never checked.....
Locked and loaded in Milwaukee. Will dispose of any potential "threats." Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
nope, and don't have to by the way the laws are written ( only when it gets a mechanics lein on it for storage and they want to dispose of it do you get a letter ) its up to you to go thru the police to find it and unless it has a pd ticket they will not know , often the towing company is posted or the PD tells you who it is . and sometimes it takes several days if it was ticketed ( age of computers and they still are slow ) . Dept of homeland security rules are enforced down here very well ( specially now since the Syria thing has kicked in ) . and they( city contractor ) can tow without a ticket issued and you have to pay then fight with the court to get reimbursed , and often you loose as its posted as a tow zone and the city considers the city contracted towing company like a arm of the PD .and some outfits now video tape the tow as evidence . for photo shoots in Chicago in front of a public building you have to have a written permit from the PD. My city will not allow you to take pictures in front of city hall or the Police dept building without authorization.
THIS MIGHT BE GOOD TO LOOK AT AT THE LAYITLOW WEBSITE. 1963 IMPALA 2 DOOR * RUNS AND DRIVES * SOLID CAR * GOOD PROJECT $ 6000
That's worth checking out. Wow. Never mind. No crossed flags on the low rodder car and the gas door is rousted.
My city will not allow you to take pictures in front of city hall or the Police dept building without authorization.[/QUOTE] Man , I would challenge them on that. If you are on public property I don't believe they can prevent you from taking pictures. And if you do and they try to seize them I would scream 4th amendment rights. Too often the police or authorities get away with this stuff because people don't know their rights and aren't willing to push back. Every time we allow this to happen we are giving up a piece of our heritage. The 4th Amendment to the Cons***ution was adopted to prevent illegal searches and seizures as were the case under British rule. Our forefathers did this for us . Don't give up your rights.
Well, I know that part of the city pretty well. That being said, the museum is where the Callitrava is, and it's on Lake Drive. The museum is just a few blocks (or so) from an area where cruising in the summer is pretty crazy at night (legal or illegal now), and at least some of those people cruise there during the day because Lake Drive runs right along Bradford Beach (the most popular beach in Milwaukee). I'm going to try and be very gentle here as I type this, but let's just say that the area where your car was stolen from is an area where lots and lots and LOTS of individuals who would LOVE your car and would do ANYTHING to have it tend to congregate. It's also an area where lot's of 63-64 chevys cruise, and let's just say that the one's you see down there on a regular basis have "a lot of switches in them". And the people tend to act like absolute animals most of the time. Animals. Hate to be a downer, bro, but as much as I know about that area......this doesn't look to end well for ya. Hope it was insured for theft.
