I was going through some old pics today of when this all started. Found one I liked. This build is basicly done until I start to tear it down some year and paint everything .. Looking forward to that. All back to black with tan interior and a roof insert back in .

Went to the rust belt revival today. What a fantastic show.. Lots of amazing cars there. First class guys and top notch cars.. And bikes. It was about a 50 mile drive for us. Well worth it . I met mr carter over there and we had great parking. Spent a few hours walking around. On the final lap, I came back to my car to find a gentlemen crouching down with a big tablet. Turns out he was an artist and was drawing my car. So I walked over and kneeled down beside him. He had most of it outlined. I spoke up and asked him what he charged for a print, because that was kinda my car... He laughed and said well this one is free For you because your car caught my eye and its so bad ass.. he finished the drawing in about half an hour ... What a job!!! I love it! It really made my day. So we decided to head over to Quaker steak and lube in austintown for there cruise in that was going on.we took i680 for a few miles. Ended up on interstate 80!! In a model a!! What a blast. I had carter behind me and Sam in his 29 sedan behind him.. It was cool as hell! We rolled along with traffic.. I kept looking back at Dave carter seeing a big ass smile on his face, and a nervous look on his wife's! So i looked at mine and she also had that look.. i was lovin it ..Luckily we were only on it for one exit up. We pulled into the lube and had a crowd around our cars all evening .. It was a great evening. 6:00 rolled around and we decided head home to try and beat the dark. What a weekend! Well worth the trip.

It was one of the howland road hounds cars. It had a wrap of down town Youngstown way back in the steel days. Very very cool. Best thing I've seen in a while . Lots of detail. It was amazing to see .

Man did I score a deal today!!! I stumbled on an ad for 35 wires today on craigslist. So I called. He said he has 5 rims, 4 with tires and center caps... So I instantly say ill be up today to look at em. After a 2.5 hour drive , we arrive at his storage unit.. He opens the door and there is the wheels and tires... They are like new! No pits no bent spokes. Just like new. With damn near new tires and all new ford center caps..! Score . Handed him the cash and loaded them up... Then he is like " you want more stuff? I want it outta here... So he loaded my jeep... I got 4 new white wall tires that are factory model a size, I also got a custom Stitched car cover to fit the model a, one nice model a wheel for my spare ire mount , and then he handed me mint original model a radiator for a 30-31. All free with the wheels!! Man was it worth the drive... Just wanna say thanks bill for the parts! I'm gonna put all the 35 wires on the model a with the white walls that are on it now... And I had an older one I can mount up so the spare matches. Then I will put all the 40 steel wheels, caps and rings on the 34 with the black wall radials.. Perfect !

This is what makes hot rodding awesome. Nice pick! I'm looking for 1 35 rim. One of my fronts has a decent bend in it.

Holy crap what a buy. Good haul.

Have to say though I like the no spare look but as much as your driving this thing a spare is probably a good idea.

    yes I agree
im not a fan of the spare either. even with the 35 wires I’m not going to run the spare. I was thinking it would look cool, but back in the 40's some kid would rip the spare off and leave the bracket anyways.. so I think I’ll do just that. I took the new wheels to the tire shop today. Trust worthy guys. they are used to my old stuff. I’m thinking of spraying them black before I have them mount them up. the wires are my favorite wheel, but I don’t want to ruin the look of the car with a real stock appearing wheel. so we will see how it looks. if I don’t like it, I guess I’ll be just switching tires back to the steelies and move on

It's not a look I've ever cared for, but the alternative to ripping off the spare was to drop it down low. It's a look they've often profiled over at Hop Up Magazine.

Shhesh! And so many folks who's car had no rear mounted spare go to such great lengths to install a continental kit. ;)

Wheels have color! What a disaster that was... I decided I didn't want to sand blast them, the weather here was terrible. So I figured since the paint was so nice I would just scuff them real well and prime/paint them. Ha! Ya right... Apparently these were on a show car for 20 years and have seen every type of tire shine possible... The primer just fell on the floor like water... Even after many steps of prep work... I wanted to try one thing before I decided to send them off for sandblast and powder coat.... I acid washed them, the acid for semi truck wheels, then I washed them with purple power, lacquer thinner and then dawn dish soap. Scuffed them again and washed them with dawn one more time..... Finally the self etch primer stuck... After a few mins I was spraying them with color.. I used rust oleum lacquer black... About $7 a can. And for a rattle can, it looks amazing. It def has the classic smooth as glass look! And there is just something about lacquer paint..it has the look.. Now should I throw just the center caps on, or the beauty ring also.??

Generalky, I've never cared for trim rings on wires. I think it looks too busy.

Just my personal preference, but when you run black (or any real dark color) wheel next to a black wall tire it NEEDS something to break it up. Olskool34's car is a perfect example of that. If you're running white walls its a totally different story. (Unless you're running white walls with white wheels, then the trim ring again breaks things up.)

This is ONLY my opinion but I don't want my wheel and tire to look like a single unit at a glance. They should be distinctly identifiable and pleasing to the eye.

I decided no outer trim ring.. It's too much. It breaks up the black wheel and the whitewall too much. So I popped them on my 34.. Perfect for the roller tires
