Hockey Ass Message Board is back up, General Discussions has become Traditional Discussion & Happenings. Is everyone else just as confused as I am now  . Ok, yes follow the rules and all will be fine, but this is like following a woman around. Make up your mind already. :p :D

It's kinda like the first day of school for first graders........we need to pin a note to our shirt telling us where to go. :D

The change really hasn't affected my surfing of the HAMB, I still just go to this main page and if something interests me I click on it. I guess there are other sections of the forum now, but I really don't go looking for traditional rods or customs, so the main page is good enough for me.

It will take time for us to understand all that has changed and how to navigate it, I guess. But at least it looks like some of the old HAMB is left for us who aren't hardcore traditionalists to enjoy. I think if the HAMB would have gone the way it was originally spelled out a lot of us would have drifted away over time. After all, as much as it is cool to see cars built the way they were in the 40's and 50's, a steady diet of only that would get pretty boring and have limited appeal.

It was a smart move to expand the areas of interest to keep the member base the HAMB has worked so hard to attain. The forum would have been much smaller if that wasn't done, IMO.

Feels like I´m probably missing out on some interesting stuff now, being as it´s moved off the main board. I don´t have the time to search three boards.
I preferred it how it was.

I dig it, now I have a place where the not-perfectly traditional stuff that I enjoy can live in peace and harmony haha

I don't think you've read this, Johnny. It might help you.

Here's the deal in a nutshell below. But I'd read everything Ryan said...follow the link. For those of you who don't like change: The Hokey Ass Message Board section is the same as the old Hamb...everything in one place...together.

    1. Traditional Hot Rods - The Traditional Hot Rod forum is reserved for threads and posts pertaining to period correct hot rods only.
    2. Traditional Customs - The Traditional Custom forum is reserved for threads and posts pertaining to period correct customs only.
    3. Traditionally “Styled” Hot Rods, Customs, & Production Vehicles - The Traditionally “Styled” Forum is reserved for threads and posts pertaining to cars that might not be “period perfect,” but are traditionally styled. This is not a forum for modern street rods, rat rods, or anything else…
    4. Traditional Discussion & Happenings - This forum is reserved for threads and posts pertaining to event coverage, art & inspiration, and other discussions surrounding the traditional hot rod world. This, however, is not an off topic forum or a forum for Facebook type vanity posts.
Note: This forum is actually the old “General Discussion” forum from the H.A.M.B. before we split into multiple focused forums. Over time, we will be moving many of the old threads from this forum into the appropriate forum listed above, however, this will take some time and frankly, I don’t ever expect to get them all moved. Please don’t ask us to move any of these threads personally – we aren’t quite ready to do that yet.
    5. The Hokey Ass Message Board - This forum hosts every thread from every forum listed above. In that way, it’s exactly as the “old” H.A.M.B. in that you can get a read of the entire forum from one place. It’s simply an aggregate.

  13. I just noticed the intro section wasn't there too. Is it somewhere else or is it under construction?

ya , I noticed on the HOKEy , that if you respond to a tech item you get transfered to where the post originated , gets a little confusing at first as your like huh the board is moving that quickly .. then realize you were transferred to the sub catagories IMO that's a good thing as we can still share the wealth and opinion in knowledge .

I never quite understood the big deal about intros. Other boards don't care so much about them.

Does anybody sit around just reading new intros every day like some kind of welcome wagon?

I don't get them either... They are not required here, but so many people want them. I think it's kind of weird honestly.

This is close to how I feel. What it really is all about for me is, where are the past threads that I've interacted with? That's all. Just like others have said, just need to relearn my way around and that takes time.

So, when is the new layout coming?

  28. May not be required now but back when I joined a guy was damn near crucified if he didn't.

When I joined I was member 1182 so I was told it was expected. HRP

  30. I never posted an intro...didn't know it was expected when I joined until I saw all these other guys getting slammed if they hadn't. I was always waiting for some wise guy to pull me up on it, I guess I can sleep easy now. As for the changes.......When I'm on here I generally hit 'New Posts' and go through the first few pages or I search for something specifically, so I haven't really noticed any major differences. I think it makes sense though, if you're only interested in period correct stuff, then you don't have to wade through all of the other junk to find it. Subscribing to a thread to follow the discussion or progress of a build has always been a winner too.
