After thinking about it, with the history of your dad's car, I would try to figure out a way to clone it using a new repop body. Your wife and kids don't really need to eat do they? LOL John

Sorry, I don't have a lead for you, but but I do have a copy of that magazine. I'm posting the article inside to help with any ID of the car. Hope this helps find that great looking custom.

If you do find it, unless it is a totally crapped out basket case your keyword of "cheap" will not be part of the equation I suspect.

Find a hardtop and build the tribute car man. Mostlikely that car is long gone... Lots of customs over the years lost their appeal and became something different. If you were to find it and since it has been published and has history I think it would cost you...

Good luck it took me almost 6 years after I found my dads car to finally buy it. I hope it works out for you.

  17. great looking car! hope you can find it, a tribute car would be kool to see. get with kustorama, the least they could do is maybe get some more info on it. this one is a bit of a long shot but you never know. just call around the local garages and see if anybody remembers it.

Id swear Ive recently seen that car restored just like the cover by someone here on the hamb, like Moriarity or someone like that?

  19. If it was around in the 1970s in decent shape, it's probably out there somewhere. Some people keep these cars for decades. Don't give up on it!

OK, that's the one. Wrong car. Sorry. Similar-ish but way different
But yes, you're right - that thing is gorgeous - the side trim is sublime

  22. Cleatus, I think you were partially right. I seem to remember this car being found as well.

  23. its funny cause it really doesn't seem like a 50's or 60's kustom. I think its just cause of the lack of chrome. it would look killer with some split olds bumpers. but that's just my keyboard-genius speaking. another thing I was thinking of today is if the car was for sale at a used car place, they may have whoever bought it deep within the records. just ask them about it. cause if you find out who bought it from them you can contact him and if he doesn't have it he can tell you who he sold it to, and just a long chain of people till one old timer says 'oh yeah, I still have that thing, its down in my basement' and there you go. that's how most car searching stories go.

  29. I know you posted here and said you put ads on Craigslist. Have you posted inquiry threads on Chevytalk &TriFive.com? Also, if you haven't already, you might try to get contact information for any of the tri-five and chevrolet clubs in the general geography of where the car used to be. Send an e-mail to them with pictures, etc.

    Good luck,

    Gotta56forme/Scott
