My dad found one in Tennessee, he's bringing it up tomorrow. Problem with mine is it was damp around steering column bracket too, so that would need resoldered also. I'll fix it, just don't want to rush doing it, ya know? I appreciate the offer, man.

So, the tank that came up from Tennessee has two pinholes in the top of it, and the threads are chewed up in the steering column bracket. We epoxied the two pin holes, and ran a tap in the holes last night. The threaded holes seem ok, so this may end up being an ok tank after all, but I definitely don't want to have any doubts at this point.
My buddy Steve(VillageIdiot) offered up one of his tanks, so my dad is headed to meet Steve right now while I'm at work to grab a tank off of Steve.
After work it's off to class, then after that, heading home to install a tank, check over everything else on the car, load up some tools and spare parts and be ready to leave Friday morning for Jersey.

  4. Uninstall and reinstall the hamp app and let Ryan know. I have this problem too, and have read some guys on IG that have the problem.

I've tried the uninstall-reinstall, no dice.

I ended up using the tank my dad brought up from Tennessee, got it installed late Thursday night. Dumped gas into it out of a 5 gallon can in the garage. When we got into Wildwood Friday night, the car wouldn't start on the trailer. Found out the key switch had shorted against the tank and popped the safety fuse after I had installed and blown my only spare fuse. So my dad and my wife walked up to the Starlux and borrowed a couple fuses off of a fellow HAMB er whose name escapes me right now.
Got the switch problem sorted out, and tried to start the car and it wouldn't run. Turns out the gas I dumped in it Thursday night was 25 or more year old gas I had drained out of my dads 40 tudor. Drained the gas out into the spare A tank we brought and refilled with fresh gas. Got it running enough to get it off the trailer and into the back parking lot.
My dad and I were out in the parking lot around 6am trying to get the car running right. I pulled the Winfield carb apart trying like hell to not rip any gaskets. Got it apart and cleaned out without damaging any gaskets.
By 9am or so it was running good again, but the battery was low from all of the cranking. Had to pull start it once, and push start it once as well. After that it started on it's own just barely the rest of Saturday and Sunday.

Mel and the Oilers put on one incredible event. It was just incredible. Got to talk with some people I hadn't seen in a while and meet some great new folks.

All in all, it was a great weekend and everything worked out well.

Probably won't see any updates on this thread for a while unless I get my tach drive hooked up to the crank and mount the tach.

Same to you, bud. Thanks for the push start on the road! I'm going to get in touch with you about a better pair of the original Firestone fronts I have. The pair I have on the front of my doodlebug tractor deserve a better home.

Thanks, Andy, great to talk to ya over the weekend. I missed the band playing, but my dad was listening to you Sunday and said you guys were awesome. Your car was incredible, but I wouldn't have expected any less from a ruler like you, man.
Did anyone take a picture of your improvised clutch pedal? Haha, loved it.

You haven't got a crank handle ? Every banger should have a crank handle!! Then you never have to get a push/tow and only rely on the battery for a bit of spark.

It was so buried in the trunk by tools and parts it would have taken an act of God to get it out of there. Besides, I didn't even think about it.

Thanks, my rad shell is just red primer. It will get replated some day. I can't say that I've ever seen or even heard of a solid copper shell. That's crazy!

Door numbers courtesy of Crazy Uncle Harry's paint marker and Zach Suhr's artistic talent.

Thanks, it was the most fun I've ever had at any hot rod event. It was truly surreal at times, so many cool cars and bikes and great people. I like the number, but I'll redo it better when the time comes.

Haha, yeah, I heard someone saying my name, and I was looking around to see who it was, and you were the only person around. I was thinking, who is this guy and how does he know my name?

Thanks, it was good to meet you.
