2. I was not aware that anyone was warned about this thread. It would certainly be a sad day if we were to loose it, as it is the most comprehensive COE thread on the internet!
Without any drama, what exactly is any more "street roddy" about the green truck than 99% of the others posted and discussed on this thread?

As anybody who has owned a truck can attest, once your friends find out, they’ll recruit you to haul anything and everything. Like a few wrecks, a boat, a tree stump, a house, or another boat. As we see from these photos from the Louis L. McAllister collection on the University of Vermont’s Center for Digital Initiatives, Hope and Son of Burlington, Vermont, was called on in the early 1950s to haul all those things and more on the back of their Chevrolet COE.

While we’d normally track down the location of Hope and Son’s garage in Burlington, we’ve had no luck finding an address for the intrepid hauler. Anybody recognize the building?

10. I thought the same. Maybe the owner has a large dog that likes to ride along to the shows. LOL

Traditional? You bet! A hotrod or custom? No.

Still a great pic of a cool old truck. Thanks for posting it!

13. Yeah, I like it! I'm thinking of doing a bed like that on mine, but will have to stretch it out because I need to cover almost 10 feet.

Here you go. I tried to make it look like something that was put together in the late '50s or so.

Looks a little out of balance or proportion. If it was me I would have the back wheels back further.

The rear axle is in its stock position and the Airstream's wheelwell is in the stock location. I'm guessing this was to achieve towing balance. I wish I knew how long the trailer really was so I could get a dimensional reference, just for the hell of it. If I remember correctly the real Airstream trailer is located near a dry lake.

Still created ideas for a great project.

19. I would move the rear axle back 30-36" and build skirting to the same height as the running board. Behind the rear wheel I would taper the skirt up to where the bottom of the trailer is now at the rear bumper. That would make it perfect! (IMHO) Oh yeah, then I'd..........(paint it green) LOL

This is a '49 Chevy I sketched up using Google's 'sketchup' 3d modeling program. Based off a o/t GMC motorhome chassis, and using a custom aluminum art deco style body.

21. If one was to incorporate the front from this slide-in camper with the airstream it might fit up against the cab a little better. (shove the over cab part back flush with the lower front)

In line with your pop up project, Bill, I've envisioned using a free old boat hull as a roof for a trailer or rv body.
I see free boat shells with no trailer all the time on craigslist

Bill, you REALLY need to post more pics here of your INCREDIBLE build! I can't believe how many times you did and re-did things to get it right!

29. Does anyone know where you can get the type of aluminum Bill used for his deck, here in the states? I think it is called 5x5 pattern. None of the suppliers around me know what I'm talking about, but I see it on fire and rescue equipment all the time.
