If you're running drums all around (like I am) you wont use a proportioning block. I have front brakes plumbed to rear reservoir, and back to front reservoir. No prop valve.

It certainly does! Can't tell you how many times a diehard Ford fan comes running up to see my Falcon, and then realizes it's not a BBF engine! Almost feel sorry for some of them; they look so sad. The 427 emblems on the side of my tilt frontend don't help, as they see those and think my 464 BBC is a 427 FE engine until I open the front.

If you don't want to do all that fab work on the Z linkage, look at an 80,s S10 pick up, they had a neat little hydraulic clutch set up... should bolt right on that big block.

A friend years ago put a BBC in an early Falcon after he took out the SBF. Tight squeeze but you won't have that problem, only the oil pan and mounts are an issue along with exhaust.:D

  7. So did full size Chevy trucks. Easy to find. Maybe adapt a Wilwood clutch master cylinder to the Ford pedal ?

I know for sure that my 37 Chevy p/u is getting a Ford motor next spring, tired of that slug of a 235 and want to make the Chevy guys cry. Any Ford motor would be better than that slow stovebolt that is in it now.

What gear ratio do you guys think was in my galaxie? It came with a 289 3 speed crusomatic. Do you think the gears in it will be ok with the big block 4 speed?

Go for it! Your post and avatar for some reason reminded me of a root beer brown '55 Chevy 210 two door that had a 392 Hemi in it. It was For Sale at the Turlock swap meet car corral a few years ago.

Old Soul. most 63 Galaxies I've seen came with 3.25 rear gears. Obviously you'd need to check.

What I think is funniest about this thread is the 7-8 guys that remarked about some purist to come and **** this thread. It never happened. Use whatever engine you've got handy or can get cheaply.
289/302's are ok in a Galaxie, but it's a heavy car (4200lbs +), torque is king. Fe's have their appeal, they look and sound very awesome and unique. A 390 can be built to be a very nice cruiser fairly easily.
I've got a 429 in mine. I've had a few thumb their nose at me over it, but whatever.... It was the cheapest way for me to get the power I wanted. Trust me, if I could have afforded a 427 engine, there would be one in my car.
I'm woefully ignorant about Chevy engines, but I doubt fitting it in there would be a problem, there is a ton of room in the engine bay. The issues you will have were already mentioned with one exception. The 63 Galaxie engine bay is very wide, but hood clearance is an issue. Unless you are willing to go with a teardrop hood your intake choices may be limited.

for size sake, my 429 in my 63.5 Galaxie:

  19. So what's the exact trouble you are having with the ford engines ?

No one else came out to "****" this thread so I will. None of my business but its the HAMB thing to do to complain about some else's choice. So here goes:

This is like putting a 460 Ford in a 57 Chevy Bel Air.

There, now the Chevy purists have their complainant.

Someone on the hamb had a 63 or 64 galaxie with a BBC. He ended up getting in a wreck (front end damage) and I saw a pic of it that way. If I can think of the user name I'll post it in here. Check the galaxie user group too.

Thank you for your selfless act of reproach. You have upheld the HAMB reputation as a bunch of cantankerous old wishbones.;):)

The issue I was having. Is I had my 302 rebuilt and I could not get the intake to seal. I was mad cuz I had the intake on and off 5 times. The heads must have been resurfaced more then I thought. I know I have to take the motor to have a intake milled for it. Im pissed because its my first ford and im a chevy guy. I wanted to keep the car all ford because I didnt want to take the easy way out and jam a chevy in it when I bought it as a roller. I spent a lot of time hunting down a motor and ****** and having it rebuilt. I was mad so I was gonna jam a chevy in it. For now I picked up a little sbf to jam in the car. Im actually having trouble decoding this new motor I picked up. So far I think its a 289 block with 302 heads and a 80s flywheel on it. Any ford guys out there??????

    yea pretty much I geuss

  30. If it's the intake end seals that are driving you crazy, throw them away.... Put a nice fat bead of silicone at each end, let it partially cure up, then install the intake and let it cure over night. I use a couple of pieces of 5/16" threaded rod screwed into a couple of the manifold bolt holes as a 'guide' while dropping the intake on.

The other thing to check is which heads you have; if somebody has installed 351 heads, you need 351 intake gaskets.
