I know you would! I'm trying to finish up another bike... Lol I am laying down 2k primer and blocking it out for color... Gonna paint the frame chrome! This bike is slowing down progress big time on the chum bucket Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Did you see those doors? I removed the tacked on "skins" so they can be blasted on the inside properly. They will need new lock mechanisms, re-skinning, bear claws, suicide treatment and reconstruction. The belt lines are rusted out too. Thats WTF I am doing to them!
I can understand that dude but put the plasma cutter away. Get a 4 1/2 angle grinder with a cutoff wheel and take your time measure and plan your cuts. It will help you get it back together easier and get the door gaps lined up easier. Suiting up and whacking away with the plasma is fun , but you can make yourself a lot more work in a hurry. Also may e a little late but do some searches on molasses rust removal.
Once again I stand corrected! Damn you man! I didn't even think of the molasses stuff... I guess I must be a glutton for punishment... It seemed that the PO used scrap metal for one of the skins, so I didn't feel so bad cutting it off but that other one gave me a sick feeling when I was doing it. (It was jolly good fun though!). Be that as it may, i cut them with surgical precision by keeping the input at 7-10 so it was a more precise version of an angle grinder. IMHO these areas were so rusted and pitted out that they needed to be replaced. Anyways, thanks for the input, and again it's HAMB'rs like you who have taught me along the way to help me and make me more knowledgable about hotrods, and I appreciate that. Whisky. Ok guys... Got side tracked with another bike... Last one for a while I swear... Got my front end picked out and my wheels... Going with old ford parts!
Good to see you back on it! My '27 T Roadster build: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t= 734383
Thanks bro! Got my 10 year re-cert in early November so been studying for that... Will finish the latest chopper and should move back to the Rod. I really miss working on it. However, I have been slowly collecting parts to finish it up!
So glad to see a T project on here! I'll be receiving my coupe body in a few weeks and i'm looking forward to getting going on her. Love it!
Haven't really read your thread but the flathead looks great. I did see a few pages back regarding a rear trans mount. You can use the rubber biscuits for a trans mount if you fabricate some mounts for it. I've used them front and rear in my roadster chassis. Heres a pic of how i did the rear mount. This was in mock up of how it works. And a finished one.. Hope this helps mate!
