American bomber B-24 h-30-FO Liberator Extra Joker. Serial number 42-95379, was part of the 725 10th bomber squadron 451 7th bomber group. Aircraft participated in the raid on the airfield of Markerslorf near the Austrian capital of Vienna and was attacked at least two German fighters Fokke-Wulf Fw 190 over the Austrian city of Turnic , Within a few seconds flames enveloped the plane and it exploded. All 10 crew members were killed.
Author is photographer group Sergeant Leo Stautsenberger flew had with the crew of the Extra Joker as their cameraman , but and on that fateful day they asked him to fly on another plane to take photo's of the Joker in flight . Thanks to this coincidence Leo lived and made a series of shots of the loss of the aircraft. He said about this picture: I felt guilty, helplessly snapping a picture while the men were burning inside. It happened so fast they didnt have much of a chance , I had photographed a picture of death, with the crew burning inside. It happened so quickly that they had little chance of surviving

327-365, Thanks for the recognition of the "Extra Joker" B24. My cousin was the nose gunner on that plane and was in the second plane with the photographer when it crashed. About 6 months ago, my wife and I visited his sister (another cousin) and spent some time going through his scrap book and memobilia, which included the "extra joker" playing card they all carried. Story was the crews changed planes because one of the planes had a new bomb sight and not compatable with the training and experience of the crews. Fuzzy to me which plane had the new bomb sight. The result was life for one crew, death for the other. Tragic.

 

I am no gynecologists, but I'll take a look....

Apparently the latest object of our desire (in post #81888) is Maria Grazia Buccella, an Italian glamour model born in 1940. We are fickle though, someone will post another nice girl up soon and she'll be forgotten...

 

After I oogled Maria, I googled Maria. There are very many sexy Marias out there. This is not one of them.
