i hear that many studebaker and caddy motor parts are interchangeable. i have a 390 cadillac motor. there is a fellow hamber with a 4x2 log manifold that fits a 50's stud motor. anyone know if this will fit my caddy with out any mods??? thanks
Kinda, They fit the shafts, the rest is an excersize in patience and measurements. Custom pushrods are almost a must. Valve covers are a real problem as well. You'll need to make them to fit 'em if you want anything cool. So to answer your original question- No. Cad stuff is Cad Stuff, Stude Stuff is Stude Stuff, and Olds Stuff is Olds Stuff on the main. Flywheels for Cad and Olds Work. That is the only part so far that I have not had to modify. I've had them all and all at the same time. Tried alot of the interchange stuff and I found it much easier to stay in the same make. A Crower U Fab log is pretty easy to weld together. That's a pretty good looking 4x2 log intake. all the Best, Tim
The old "Cad/Stude interchangeable parts" myth will never die. However all Model "T"s were black and Rolls hoods are sealed
The early Stude intake ports are MUCH smaller thAn the Cad. int. ports. They are also slightly out of alignment. With some work, you might get it to work and run. Wil it run well...most probably not. People have been putting Cad. intakes on Stude engines for years. But even on the later (55 and up) Stude engines, the Cad ports are still larger and still not on the same center-line, but with good gaskets...they will run. BUT again....run well....not nearly as good as they could run with a good intake. I've got a dual quad Cad. intake at home that I was converting to work on a Stude engine. But to do it even "sorta" right...it takes a lot of work...and this guy ran out of money, and I have a half done manifold that I'm not interested enough in to finish. Maybe one day..this guy will do..."something...". On the good side for you...MANY more hot rod Cad, intakes were made thAn hot rod Stude manifolds. If you can get this 4 x 2 manifold cheap..."might" be interesting to see what happens. Otherwise watch e-bay, Craigs List, swap meets, etc. for different Cad intake manifolds. Mike
