Dean Martin's version of Everybody Loves Somebody knocked the Beatles off the #1 spot on Billboard. It's said that Martin resented Rock and Roll and told his then teen son that he (Dean) was going to knock the Beatles off the chart and he did.

Man, I love this kind of stuff, too. I graduated HS in June 66, and our garage band was at the pinnacle of it's career that summer. I was off to an unremarkable semester at Iowa State about the time this survey was published and the band went into hiatus, of sorts, slowly sliding into oblivion the following year. My favorite band / song off this chart was the Lovin' Spoonful's "Summer in the City." Excluding the bubble gum stuff, other artists we sought to "repop" in that time were the Beatles, Donnovan, Los Bravos, Neil Diamond and of course "Wild Thing" by the Troggs, that being a 3-chorder and easy for our untrained minds. A pretty good list (overall) of easy listening tunes on this chart. Except The Troggs. I imagine they irritated a lot of people over 35 in 1966! About 3-4 more years and this chart would look a lot different.

I was drafted into the Army Aug. 10 1966. Seeing those song titles sure brings back a lot of fond memories (except the #2 song doesn't ring a bell at all). In the end even being drafted and going to Viet Nam wasn't all that bad.

Those truly were the days.

that is actually a pretty hi tech saw, shaft drive ! I would love to have one!

 

I have a similar setup. Use it mostly for cutting firewood, and fingers. 2 cylinder diesel.

 

I would not want to cross that bridge after drinking a few beers.

I don't know, but all those guys would have gotten Captains Mast for a stunt like that today.
