Well that really sucks. Olds rear and all. He should sell it to someone who cares about the racing history, even if not known. It would be cheaper to sell this one and buy a stocker and restore it, rather than a car this modified. Front end clip alone big $$. If he thinks it will be worth Big Bucks when done, it has to be perfect.
Tommy, If that guy ends up killing off that car's heritage and doing a lame-o restoration on it,would you mind asking him if he'd sell me that Olds rear end?I'm in need of one for my '30 Model A Altered/Coupe project. That way,at least PART of the car would still be making passes at the drag strip....! Scott Posted using two Dixie cups and a medium length piece of string.
I dunno man, with stack injection, and that rollbar that looks like it was extended to meet tech,I would guess that that car saw some action in Modified Sports...? Cool looking car. Posted using two Dixie cups and a medium length piece of string.
I've wondered the same thing. It's IFS, but I didn't recognize it and this is the only pic I've got. And unfortunately, you can't really see squat. Scott, I'd be happy to, but I'm afraid that won't happen. Reason being is because my friend was going to ask his tennant about the car and have him contact me. That was several months ago and I've heard nothing. Nonetheless, I'll keep an eye/ear out for you! Tommy
What if I can find one that is already restored to original condition he can give me this car and what it's going to cost to put this one back that way on trade. That way he will have an original car with out going to all the trouble of doing it himself and I'll make the baddest Gasser you have ever seen out of this one.
The really sad thing is from what I'm told the current owner isn't even really a car guy. He bought this and will restore/sell it as an investment. IMO, he'll likely lose money......unless he scored this car for next to nothing, which would just upset me even more. It should be in the hands of someone who would preserve its racing history.
He will lose money if he restores it back to original even if this car was free because they don't bring nothing after finished compared to what it cost to do the work. That's why I said I would trade him one already restored for this one plus what he is going to spend on it. I want to do a 56 or 57 vette gasser real bad I'm almost to the point of getting an original and cutting it up, I'll bet the vette gods would hunt me down for that.
Quain the Vette Gods would hunt you down to thank you. The stock Nazis may have their panties in a twist but what else is new. The car's heritage owe a lot to it's success on the dragstrip and this heritage is being ignored by restorers. There is a stock sportscar heritage, a modified stock heritage, a road course heritage and a drag race heritage. There are enough old Vettes to go around. We don't need another example of pure Vette stock correctness so that we can save this esoteric nonsense for posterity; we have a ton already. I wont apologize to anyone for trying to keep memories of how they looked back when I grew to like them. It's your car and your dime, give or take a few cents.-Jim
