    Pretty much, that was just the way things were done , right up to about 1966, well in the Southern states anyway . I went to live in Los Angles in 1973. It was if I had entered a completely different world there as far as any dress code went .............

    ...this is a pic out of my aunts photo albums...what kind of car is that with the split windshield ? ..and check out the licence plate topper...seems to say "REPEAL"

    So, what is that to his left? Looks big enough to be one of those multi-million-dollar (today) Bugatti Royales. Or a Duesy?

    Looks like amongst other problems this '40 tudor had a leaking cowel vent, note the tape.:(

    Damn small world! The Valley Stream Pacers were a car club in my home town, and the '55 Ford in the pic belonged to George Snizek, who went on to pilot the "Tazmanian Devil" altered that the auto service business that evolved from the club built. Snizek used that Ford to whip the snot out of my '55 convert; he never admitted (but I later learned) that he had replaced the original 272 Y-block with a 312 police Interceptor engine.
