I love this photo Bob, it completely captures the spirit of vintage hillclimbing. It must've been a cold day though judging by the way those two chaps are bundled up.

This is one heck of a thread. Thanks for it. I'm a newbie (posted a boring into in the intro section) For my own reasons I'm mulling over a cyclecar project. Every time I Google cyclecar, this thread comes up so many times it's unreal. This is the place to be for cyclecaristes.

 

I don't know if anyone has posted the link to these pictures before. They appear to be from the 100th anniversary celebrations of the Cyclecar Grand Prix at Amiens. I think that most of us here on this thread have an interest in a vehicle that is:
#1 home built
#2 inexpensive to construct
#3 simple to build without a lot of complex tools or difficult to obtain parts
#4 economical to operate

new Jappic pics,,, I have just had a visit from a guy who about 20 years ago bought a kit of parts to build himself a Jappic , the project stalled but he has a huge folder of research and many pictures and clippingS I hadn't seen ,, he has scanned some in for me and will scan the rest soon ,,

I just found this video on YouTube. It says it's a Swisscyclo cycle car. I can find nothing on the Internet about Swisscyclo. Usually an internet search of a cyclecar name comes up with a link on this thread, but not this one. It's a rather nice looking machine without a doubt.

It seems to be 2CV-based. That precludes a build date before 1948, and suggests a nostalgic intent behind many of the details.

 

Absolutely 2CV based. Looks like an adapted Pembleton (see below for link)- the engine mounting system is unique (hung from the gearbox mounts) to Pembleton. So probably built in the last ten years or so.

The "friction shocks" are nothing more than a cover for the steering rack tube. They can't possibly be functional as the suspension arm pivots on the steering rack tube.

A nicely done car though.

Fairly sure that is the same car Von Dutch owned in the 1960's. It is in a collection about 30 minutes away from me. Bob
