Is there a build thread on a '32 3/W in New Zealand where the guy is raising the chopped roof, can't seem to find it if it exists. Thanks!
Don't know about this one , it could well be judging by the old cortina in the back. The door against the wall appears more chopped than the roof. We have to have a certain amount of clear screen height in the centre of the screen to get legal so there is a chance this one was too short to pass.
Some months ago someone was running a wanted ad in our monthly Petrolhead magazine looking for the pieces that would have been removed in a roof chop on a 32 coupe. Same guy I guess.
Steve woodfine ex Rusty Acres in nelson was looking for sections to raise his 3w back to stock height, dont know if he found the bits but the car is in the panel shop being resurected at present
Steve Woodfine from rusty acres Nelson NZ is the owner of this 32 3w. Direct from him, it came from Iowa recently and had been stored since the 70s minus it's Boss motor. A pretty heavy chop revealed the rear window nearly 3/8 inch lower one side. So what to do to improve the bad and make it legal for NZ roads .... Cut the roof off and square it up and raise it just a little. The debut is on track for late summer early autumn next year. There may be a build thread when the car is done , to keep some surprises.
Hi Guys, I'm the owner of the 3W in the pics on this thread ...and Yes as Brian has said ..the two main reasons for roof raise was to correct a bad uneven chop and to also make the car legal screen height in new zealand..another reason that could be included is ..i personally wanted an opening original front screen not just a glued in piece of glass !! i purchased this 3W coupe three years ago from Mike in Lewiston ,Idaho ..where it had been in storage since the late seventies. It used to run a Boss engine, which was too wild for the coupe and was sold at the Portland swap in the eighties and a brand new Edelbrock 302W engine and C4 which it will run.The beaten up bodyshell was purchased from the Oregon area in the late sixties/early seventies by Mike and was Chopped and turned into a show car in the mid seventies and had hidden door hinges and handles, and electric windows and ZZtop style stripes ..as the photos show ..we are in the process of rebuilding her and we will show photos of the finish article in months to come.
