Pretty sure that's Oliver Reed at far right. Appears to be a British film judging by motorcycles. Sorta looks like young Julie Newmeyer (Newmar) but I doubt it.

  3. Best guess is Shirley Anne Field.

  5. It ain't the prop, these are piston engine aircraft. Girls, bridges etc also don't have anything to do with cars, it's days gone by.
Those of us 60 and over remember piston engine planes, our Dad's fought in WW2, many in aviation. Lot's of mechanics made then, lots of skills from the war, metalworking, electronics, mechanics etc. plus you could buy WW2 surplus up until the mid 60's.
BIG, 1000+ HP piston engines are cool!

If I had a cherry '56 Bel Air I'd look a lot happier. Maybe it's the matching sweater his wife made him wear.

Maybe he isn't smiling because he still gets to drive the 59' Family Truckster in the driveway and MAMA gets the Bel Air. LOL

    no problem Deuce Daddy,,
each photo is surrounded by ,, so when u do a quote it looks like:
    [IMG] photo blah blah [IMG]
so u kinda gotta count the photos and remove all the ones you dont want to quote, and leave only the ones you do,, you can edit, and then click
"preview post" to check it out,
and you can do that as many times as needed before clicking 'submit reply'

SWI66, in your post 82474, the fourth photo from the top appears to be the excursion steamer "Avalon" at the old cobblestone wharf in Louisville. I believe she is now the "Belle of Louisville" and still steaming.

She was purchased by then Jefferson County Judge-Executive Marlow Cook in the 60s, and has undergone constant refurbishment ever since. This steamer and the old Delta Queen always had a big race during Derby Week.

One aside: Judge Cook used to keep a bowl of pennies on his desk. Whenever a visitor complained about the money spent for the boat, he'd take two or three out and hand them to the complainer, saying, "There you go, that's your share of the cost as a taxpayer."

Thanks for the memories. I don't feel qualified to comment on much on this forum, but it's nice to see something I think I know a little about.

Kinda looks like Nixon. Maybe he's pissed that Ike got a limo, and all he got was a lowly '56 Chevy.

  16. I've read that the 1930's era heavy cruisers ( 8" guns ) had hangers for scout aircraft but, have yet to see a picture of one. Does anyone know for a fact that that is what this pic shows?? It would seem so, but, wish to make sure

Or...once you plan to reply (Quote) you can simply click on the photos in that window you want to remove and delete them, leaving a photo of choice as reference.
