Wonder if the dehumidifier helps that process any? Yeah I let it set for six months and it was a damp summer going into winter. The shop had no air and the heat in the winter made things feel damp until it got really warm in there. It was an old shop. That was at least 15-20 years ago so I'm sure paint and prep products have gotten a lot better.

Can't wait to see more on it and this is one awesome project!

Hey guys, haven't posted anything because I've been welding all the seams and edges on the rear of the body. When finished will do all the body work and post pic's.

My only concern would be that the bare metal surfaces in places like behind the toe boards will start rusting back where you can't see it happening. I would have shot some weld thru primer all over any of the enclosed areas like that and maybe even a little bit of cheap paint just to seal the metal a bit. Best way all around would be to have the body dipped and e-coated before the bondo started, that way, all the little hidden area would be protected.

Hey, understand your concern the toe boards have been sealed and undercoated inside already, the interior as well as inside the doors and under the dash and under the body and bed will also be sealed. lizard skin will be sprayed as a heat barrier as well as sound deadening. I think that should work just fine. Thanks for responding!

Sprays a lot like PPG's old rock guard! If you are not familiar with rock guard it has a heavy orange peel finish it dries hard but flexible and can be painted to color match. Used it before on my Dakota R/T and I love it. It will be exposed under the body and bed but will be painted the color of the body, the interior will have carpet to hide it.

Hey guy's haven't had a lot of time to work on the rod. Have all of the body work done and only have the cab to prime. My compressor went down. Got the parts to rebuild the compressor head it's a devilbis and is approx. 35 years old had a hell of a time finding parts because of it's age. So if i get time this weekend i'll rebuild it. I thought about just buying an new set up but Quincey compressors was the only comparable set up and right now six grand is out of the question! Will post pics when I have some. Once the body is all in prime I will reassemble everything. Once I double check fitment I'll blow it apart for final paint and brake and fuel lines as well as electrical.

Hey guy's I finally had some time to work on the rod. After finish welding the body complete I then did the lead work and body work. I primed it with several coats of epoxy primer and then block sanded it. After I was satisfied with the body I then final primed it and taped it off and sprayed the underside with lizard skin. I seam sealed the interior and primed and shot lizard skin in the interior which will be painted at a later date. I plan to mount the body one more time take some picks and begin to paint the final color which I haven't picked yet. Pic to follow.

Haven't decided yet. The frame will be black as for the body I don't know! My wife likes a new toyota green it sort of has a greenish gold tint that sorta flipflops in color from green to gold it is cool looking. I know i want the final finish to be semi-gloss so I have a couple of colors to test I have some sheet metal left to make two or three test panels will buy some pints of paint to test them before I pick a color.

Looks really good! Sign me up! You should look at building these as a kit one at a time. Great body work and I can't wait to see it after paint and on the road.

Thanks! Got to paint my wife's car first and get that outta the way, it's ready for the paint booth. Should finish it this weekend. Then I can blow the rod apart and start with painting the frame and suspension parts.
