for me.....the soundtrack from ENDLESS SUMMER is the hot rod cruzin' anthem....still gives me chills when I crank it during a closed cruz.....and the good ol' VENTURES....early albums.....just capture the vibe of early rodding.!!
    AND still sound GREAT...!!!!

  12. Great find....that album can bring over $100.00 on eBay if it is in good condition. I have had over 50 different Hot Rod albums over the years, but my favorite still is CHRISTIAN, great cover and great music. I think that Bill Haley extended play album you found was the first ever Hot Rod cover album.
Robert Williams also did a fantastic double album with some of his atrwork on the covers, try to find one of those for under $75.00 !

Would you belive my wife spoted it and the lady selling it was asking $ 10.00 and Yvonne asked her if she would take 8.00 and she said yes !!!
I liked it so much I would have given anything to own it !! Your confirmation as to its value only fuels the fire now to find more--Thanks Kevin:cool:

They were available in 45 or 78 RPM. Tom Medley convinced Robert Petersen to form Hot Rod Records, Tom ***embled the jazz band (vocals by ****man Cruthers), co-wrote the 3 songs, Saturday Night Drag Race, Hot Rod Harry, and Hot Rod Cowboy. Records were distributed by Trend Publishing, predecessor to Petersen Publishing. I have all the 78's, a 45 of Saturday Night Drag Race, and a few remaining CD's (we transferred all the songs from vinyl to CD a few years back). I have a 78 of Saturday Night Drag Race, along with a CD of all 3 songs for sale if interested. See cl***ifieds.Needless to say, these are extremely rare, given their age, and limited original number pressed.

There were three in the set, see if you can find "Surfink", with Big Daddy's cover art, it came with a bonus 45 as well.

Found the promo article in Hot Rod issue, April 1952. Interesting article, in many ways. I wonder if, the 1950's "Flat Out" Five sounded "rockabilly" or "rock and roll"?
