He who is without sin shall cast the first stone. They died for our country. As a matter of fact it their own country killed them. They are American Heros so show respect.

"Sadly, Bob was never able to walk straight again, as the owners of these two cars, taking exception to Bob's belief it was OK to sit on and put his feet on someone elses car, decided to see how many Oxford shoes would fit up Bob's ass".

I would have a hard time putting my shoe on the rusty bumper of some mangy-ass pickup to tie my shoe. Seeing some guy putting his feet on my fender like that would warrant giving him the Bob Probert treatment.

I think Professor Harry has a very valid point. Look where we are now.

Can anyone I.D. these planes? They appear to be WWII vintage, but I can't find them on the WWII American aircraft site that I use.

Well, I am an A-Hole, but when I wrote that, I didn't recognize him as Robert Kennedy. I just picked a name out of the air, Guess I am also Psycotic as well. Now, back to our regularly scheduled program.

Thank you. I found a picture of the Martin XPB2M-1R prototype with the same tail design, but that is as far as I got.

I know it has probably been said before, but the women in the "pinup" pictures and even the ones wearing all of their clothes seem to have a helluva lot more class that the ones seen today. Plenty of tease makin me think impure thoughts!!!

No such critter as a "land based Mariner". The aren't "seaplanes"...they are "flying boats". There is no landing gear, only what was called "beaching gear"...wheel sets that were floated out and bolted on so they could be towed ashore.

Same concept as the P5M Martin Marlins I flew out of NAS North Island in '62.

Made flying inland without any wheels to the Salton Sea & China Lake really...interesting.

At least one P5M made a successful emergency desert landing in some nice soft dunes. No injuries, but takeoff was another matter. It had to be cut up and packed out. No big loss though, they were really crappy, underpowered unreliable airplanes. My squadron lost 2 birds and 27 men inside of two months. One flew into a mountain in Alaska on a blue bird day (apparently a control "issue")...and no trace of the other was ever found in the Pacific. Last heard from a few hundred miles west of Catalina (suspect was the onboard APU that had a history of sometimes going boom for no apparent reason).

The image is around on the net but I can't find one that names the model. The photographer was Robert Stackpole and most references state 1944.
