  6. This has been driving me bat **** crazy trying to work out what the wing is from!!
As far as I can figure out it is a Vultee Vengeance? Without researching and digging through old photos I'm going to stick with the big POS Dive bomber!

Well, the Wikipaedia page on the Vultee shows that picture, so there is a fair bet you are right.

Doc, you nailed it, here is the same photo, with the following caption:

English: This woman worker at the Vultee-Nashville is shown making final adjustments in the wheel well of an inner wing before the installation of the landing gear, Nashville, Tenn. This is one of the numerous ***embly operations in connection with the m*** production of Vultee "Vengeance" dive bombers.

Cars seemed like works of art back in the day with their fat fenders and cl***ic looks not to mention tons of chrome.

Great shots and plenty of wonderful memories from a by gone era of time.

  18. Thank you for that! The oleo leg scissors/hydraulic line set up and that odd 'brush bar' sold it, there were some very different and rather distinctive aspects of the Vengeance.
Somewhat of a failure in it's primary role of dive bomber they went on to be extensively used in liaison/training roles.

Remember the guy who would come around in the drive-in to make sure you had all your clothes on?

Social Hot Spot: In 1937, Benson Smith Drug Store, on King and Fort streets, was a mainstay in Honolulu, not only for its pharmacy, its supply of toiletries, candy and perfumes, but also for its soda fountain. It was a popular meet-up spot for the town’s socialites.
