I bought the front half of a 41 willys at auction today. Had to keep it from going to the s**** yard. Not quite sure what I'm going to do with it at this point. The metal is pretty rusted in places.

Think Toronado drivetrain, custom frame, tandem seats and Aloha umbrella's over a single rear wheel. Or not... lol Oh this is a Photoshop moment for sure. :D Gimme a side shot I can work with.

Still has the original engine and trans. I doubt there are too many with the original drivetrains around, but maybe nobody wants them either.

    Sweet! Glad you saved it

  17. I see a woodie wagon in your future. You'd have the only one around. Build it as a stocker, or at least stock-appearing, and see if you can fool people with it.

I thought the original drivetrain was a 392 hemi and B&M Hydro? ;)

Willys made five woodie wagons in 1941 and five in 1940. I sold a '40 woodie last year and there is a Hamber who owns a 1941. Off the Richter scale in rarity but they do exist. All five 1940s are still around and accounted for as are four of the five 1941s.

Never knew they built a wagon, I'd build one out of that front half. Bob

How about a woodie roadster, kind of on the them of the Chrysler T&C converts of the later 40's or woodie coupe g***er?

I think this is the way I'd go personally...

  28. bwaahahahahaha I was also looking around my place thinking how awesome it would be to have that sitting there! I think it would look awesome as art, maybe coming out of a wall or through the roof in the shop, up high so its not in the way, put some headlights in it and plug it in.
Basically, I too would have bought that critter!

edit: buy the back half and be a kabillionaire!

  29. Old news but...pointing out again (a bit of trivia) in pictures on #25 the front view has the '41 Woody (which was from Michigan) there is a WILLYS plate, (A Minnesota Willys plate). That plate was on a restored Jeepster from the North St Paul area in the late 70's, early 80's. In MN they make you get new plates about every 7 years...it would be interesting to find out how that plate got into the Willys Woodie owner's hands.

That'll teach you to reach up and scratch your nose during the bidding ! :D I would do the woodie routine too. Sure would be a nice family cruiser.
