  4. I was there when they rolled the car
there is a cannon in the right front corner or the roll cage
the rear rims have a second rim welded to it to make the back wider
and a fiberglass rear bumper copy of a tucker
the right wheel is not the one that was on the car when it was rolled it had a silver chevy truck rim with a small whitewall I got from a new suburban
Petaluma Speedway north of San Fransisco off hwy 101

I don't know about the Tucker factory, but a bullet nose Stude was used for the rollover scene in the movie:

Call Rick Dore, he will contract it, if he finds a rich person...

It'd be famous, for a while.

  8. Hey Leon Sandcastle, came across this while looking for something else:

Looks like a '55 Ford grill.

Hey man I definitely appreciate it. Sometimes a vision in your head just isn't enough and you need to actually see it layed out before you. That makes the 4 door (any '53 or '54 for that matter) look so much better. I was between this and converting it to a 2 door but I think now my mind is made up to leave it as a four door and just take care of that rear corner. Thanks again my friend

  11. the Convtertible looks awesome, how 'bout adding a full fadeaway on the side?

  12. I like the idea... if I find a four door I'll do the ute. The ford grill looks pretty good but I think the ute was a 55.

  13. Anyone out there want to help me with colors on my roadster? Light grey body, maroon wheels, and black number was what I was thinking. Many thanks in advanced guys!

I am thinking of painting my wheels white. Could someone photo-shop the wheels white with black walls and with wide white walls. Also a set of chrome smoothies? Anyone help me out?

Anybody want to "paint" my T'Bird? Bright silver on top, following the front fender/door character line down to the torpedo spear, and a darker silver, but not dark charcoal, below the spear? I'm thinking the lighter color should also include the spear, and on back to the rear bumperettes. I'm debating bringing the darker color up the bumpers center onto the deck lid, between the trunk lids "humps" and thence up the tonneau cover between the seats. Hard to see with the top on maybe...

Hey guys- So I downloaded GIMP yesterday and after a bunch of failed attempts I'm starting to get the hang of things. I managed to take this:

    And make this:

I'm just wondering if anyone could make it all gloss black? That seems to be out of my abilities (so far- I'm workin on it!), I'd just like to see it all one shade to give me a better idea...

After giving photo editing a try I'm jealous at how most of you make it look so easy and flawless.. Boy you guys do some great work!

Try to find a similar car on the 'net and drag the color off it. I'm not sure what GIMP has but there should be a tool where you can highlight something on one picture and drag it over to your subject picture. You can always "paint" any places that need filling. Looks like you're off to a pretty good start so keep at it.

    Thanks buddy! Pardon the impatience!

  26. No problem, glad you guys get some value from my feeble attempts. I'm recovering from heart attack/bypass surgery (which is one reason I'm grumpy at times) so this is "therapy" for me! I wish I could figure out color changes, but that's one thing that is eluding me...I leave those for OahuEli and RubenDuran (two guys who really have the talent).

Is that Lincoln what you had in your mind's eye? And, more importantly, are ya gonna build it?

  27. If you're working with something that has a good paint job but you want a different color, that can be a fairly easy task.

What software are you using? Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro both have tools named something like "Selective Color" or "Change Hue Saturation and Lightness". I suspect that GIMP has something similar.

In the dialog that opens look for a way to select your "Source" color, the color that you want to change. It might be an eyedropper icon or an eyedropper with a "+" sign. If you use the "+" sign tool you can click multiple times in the image to add lighter and darker shades of the Source color. There might be some sliders that you can move and a small window that shows a sample of your Source color.

Once your source color is selected look for some sliders that control the "Destination" color. Adjust the sliders for Hue, Saturation and Lightness until you get the desired Destination color. You can get good results with this method if you've done a good job of selecting your Source color. The only drawback to this method is that it doesn't work well with white or black as the Source color. There's not enough color information in the Source to make a change to the Destination color.

  28. Thanks...I'm using PSP X6 and don't like the results I'm getting with the Color Changer tool (that '32 5-window I changed from green to copper/orange was a happy accident). I'll try your suggestions and see what happens. I also re-downloaded GIMP 2.8.8 today and will start playing with it.
