Ok, people, here's a little tip from me.

If you are curious about a pic, like "I wonder who that actress/starlet/model" is, just right click on the image, copy the url and open up a new window and fire up google.
    Click where it says images.
If a little camera icon appears click on it.
Paste in the image url and ask it to search.

It will then show where else on the net the image has been posted, and very often you can find references stating who it is, and where it was taken etc etc.

If the little camera icon does not appear, just do a search, and it should ask you if you want to search by image. Select this and it gets you to the same place.

If you click on the image of Sharon Tate for instance, you can use that to test the technique.

I offer this as a public service to hambers. I'm sure many already do this, but if you don't, it can be very helpful.

I just have to right click on an image and one of the menu options is 'search google for this image'. Using google chrome.

Ha ha. I didn't know it was that easy! I've been doing it the long way round!

    Thanks for the short cut!

Kinney Shoes. I remember getting shoes from there all the time. Kinney Shoes had a slogan "Great American Shoe Store" or GASS. A lot of their shoes had GASS molded in the sole and eventially the G would where off, So all that was left was ASS. If you kept wearing them you would wear a hole in them. Well you get the idea. LOL

  13. Do you have to have a certain operating system to use this method? I ask because it doesn't work for me. All I can come up with is a larger photo of the image itself in another window with nothing else there and no way to search.

  17. Type in Google and hit search, you will get a link for google.com and then just click on images. Follow the prompts...

Simpler still: In Firefox, drag an image into upper right search bar and release, then click "search by image" on next page.

    *Poof*

    Magic.

  19. Well, it must be because of a different operating system because I have Firefox and I get the same results as with the other method, just another window open with the photo surrounded by black with nothing else there.

Lexington Avenue at 51st Street, NYC. Likely between '60-'62. The Bickfords' address was 560 Lexington Ave. Buildings have changed. Manhole covers and subway vents haven't.

Captioned "Northrop and his flying wing." 1930. Jack Northrop was a revolutionary designer who pioneered the flying wing design. He tried to sell the Army Air Corps and later the Air Force two designs, the YB-35 and the jet-powered YB-49 (actually B-35's converted to jet power). The Air Force found the designs unstable and refused both planes, and Northrop, bitterly disappointed, left his company. Right before his death, the Air Force cleared him to see the B-2, the culmination of his flying wing ideas, finally possible because of computer controls.

I've seen a few guys on this thread wearing those hats in the early 60's. I think I've seen Ed Roth (Rat Fink creator) wearing one. Did they have a name? Are they just a forgotten piece of pop culture?

I'm guessing this is Monaco - early=to-mid 50's. A line of Fazzazzas ready to go.
Earlier this week, I drove around the 'track' there (on the public roads). A week earlier, I visited the Ferrari factory and museum in Maranello.
Got home to London last night after driving around the Le Mans track.
Good times - shame they've come to an end. Ah well, at least I have the memories.
Kinda like what this thread provides.
Cheers to you Mr Southurn for continually posting some great pics that I can relate to.
    Thanks. :) :) :)

  28. A very quickly passing phase. Ed Roth kept it going as part of his image for a while then switched to a top hat. Occasionally he would show up with the hill billy hat. Depended on his whims.
