My winter project is a front engine dragster build, so far the chassis is fully welded, rear end housing narrowed and mounted, block mocked up in chassis and motor mounts made, fuel tank mounted. I'm waiting for the front axle and rear spool and axles to arrive now.

Already started and finished some of my winter list. After nearly two years of driving my car, I finally built carpets for it and put them in recently. Also while the seats were out I rebuilt the seat bases to lower the seats 1.25" for a better position. Finally got all the parts built for my chute release and got it in this week. And got the new finned covers built and installed on the trans and rearend.
Still need to do a few more small things, and lots of cleanup from 6,000 miles I put on it this summer. Couple little engine mods, and a short trip back to the paint shop to fix a big paint chip I got in the cowl.

  11. Careful with that. We wanted to get away from NH Winters 2 years ago so we bought an old Winnebago & spent that Winter on the Gulf coast of Alabama. Were so spoiled with avoiding the snow & bitter cold that we decided we had enough. I was born in York ME and lived most of my life in NH. Last October we packed up everything we owned, bought a house in East Tennessee and never looked back. Best thing we ever did. My project for this Winter is to have a 30x40 garage built complete with a lift and then look for a new project car to work on. This area seems to be damn near perfect as far as I'm concerned. About the same Summer weather as NH but very mild Winters. Alabama was nice but most of the guys we talked to who live there year round told us the Summers can be brutally hot. There are alot of old cars & trucks around here, cruise nights going on all the time, an hour to Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg, etc. I wish I had done this 20 years ago.

The Sedan Delivery,, the wife seemed to think I needed a project and so she bought this thing. I would have been quite content to spend the winter in the garage sipping scotch and stoking the fire however I am starting to see the car as being even more practical for road trips as far as room for swap meet purchases and it too can haul a trailer.

  17. I posted on this thread about a year ago and it took about a year to what I had planned mostly done. This winter I hope to complete final mockup and get it running before teardown for paint.

Glad to see this thread resurected for the 2013-14 winter. Last winter was relatively successful even though it turned to spring before the jobs were done. My motivation is coming back so my plans are coming together...

    Run new trans cooler lines
    Re gasket trans
    Flush trans
    Adjust my gennie shifter linkage
    New exhaust donut gaskets
    Oil and filter change
Clean and touch up exhaust manifolds
New spark plugs and tune up
Replace the electric fuel pump lead with a nice new one.
Replace my stock cut coils with the aerostar coils I've had since Christmas last year

Then hopefully front upper shock mount relocation and new shocks in the rear (maybe air?)

Those are all of my highest priorities but some of them will be money dependant.

Good luck to all you guys!

This winter is (hopefully) when I will finally get the studebakers back on the road, and knock a few items off of the tub's list of to-do's. That means...

    ...for the '52 Champion:
    -finish the Commander brake-conversion
-put in an exhaust system of some flavor

    ...for the '59 Truck:
    -new wheels 'n tires
    -brakes
-get the 4-barrel intake on the motor, with a new carb
-figure out why the tranny is whinning when in park
-fix the above issue, however I need to
-get the bed pulled off, and straitened, and put back on
-and when all those ducks are in a row, sheetmetal, sheetmetal, sheetmetal

    ...and for the Phaeton:
    -finish the wood kit install
    -make the doors close pretty
-sanding, and blocking, and primer, and sanding, and blocking, and primer...

Guess I've got a full list. Time to get to it.

Make a list and hopefully complete a few items on my 37 and 56 Chevy current drivers.
Finish up more of the fabrication on my 66 Malibu wagon 2 door conversion project.
Install steering in a jointly owned 32 Ford Coupe project.
Continue our build on Rick's 33 Plymouth Coupe.

My winter project will be my first Flathead rebuild:

2013-11-30 07.57.59 by louisfbrooks, on Flickr

    8RT block
    EAB Heads milled for compression
3 5/16 bore X ?? stroke. Still looking for a Merc crank but if I can't find one I will go with an aftermarket stroker.
    L-100 cam
    2x2 Offy setup w/ 97s

Still collecting parts but hope to do final assembly in the Spring. Then I have to find something for it to go in. That will be next winter's project. :D

    Thanks,
